Cameras

Oppo Reno 4 Pro vs Reno 4 vs Reno 4 Z camera

Reno4 Pro: razor-sharp photos in every situation

With the Oppo Reno4 Pro, you can take razor-sharp photos in all circumstances. In addition to a 48-megapixel standard camera and a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, the device has a 13-megapixel telephoto lens. With this, you can zoom in up to 3 times without your photo looking pixelated. The cameras also have a night mode. This means your photos look clear and detailed in low light as well. You can make selfies with the 32-megapixel camera at the front of the smartphone.

Reno4: fewer options, 2 selfie cameras

You can also take nice photos with the Oppo Reno4, but the options are more limited. The Reno4 doesn't have a telephoto lens to zoom in and it also lacks a night mode, for example. This means photos taken in low light are of lower quality. The device has the same standard camera as the Pro version, but due to the 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, your photos are a little less sharp. The Reno4 contrasts this with a dual selfie camera (32 and 2 megapixels). This means you can take selfies with a natural depth of field effect.

Reno4 Z: similar to Reno4

The camera setup of the Oppo Reno4 Z is comparable to the Reno4. In addition to a 48-megapixel standard camera, this smartphone also has an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. This means large buildings fit completely into the photo. Just like the Reno4, this device has a monochrome lens to take black and white photos. The devices are also similar in terms of selfie cameras. With a double selfie camera (16 and 2 megapixels), you can take photos with a depth of field effect with the Reno4 Z. These selfies are a bit less sharp.

Screen

Oppo Reno 4 Pro vs Reno 4 vs Reno 4 Z screen

Reno4 Pro: 6.5 inches, rich colors

The Oppo Reno4 Pro has a large 6.5-inch screen which is hard to operate with one hand. Colors look vibrant on the sharp Full HD AMOLED screen. This means you see a lot of detail in your movie or series. With a 90Hz refresh rate, movement, for example with scrolling, looks smooth. The screen is made of Gorilla Glass 5. This means the screen is better protected from scratches than other smartphones. The rounded screen bezels make the device thin and give it a premium look.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro or Reno 4 or Reno 4 Z size

Reno4: 6.4 inches, slightly duller

The 6.4-inch Full HD screen of the OPPO Reno4 is smaller. If you have small hands, it's still difficult to operate the device with one hand. This AMOLED screen also offers vibrant colors, but the screen is less bright. This makes images a bit paler. The screen is made of Gorilla Glass 3. This glass offers protection from scratches, but it's more vulnerable than that of the Reno4 Pro. The straight screen bezels make the Reno4 look less elegant. The device is also slightly thicker and heavier.

Reno4 Z: less beautiful colors, high refresh rate

The large 6.57-inch Full HD screen of the Oppo Reno4 Z is difficult to operate with one hand. Although this smartphone has the same Full HD resolution as the Reno4 and Reno4 Pro, the screen quality is lesser. The screen is also less bright. On top of that, with the IPS-LCD technology you see less rich colors than on the AMOLED screens of the bigger brothers of this device. On the other hand, the screen looks smoother thanks to the higher refresh rate of 120 times per second. Like the Reno4, this smartphone has Gorilla Glass 3 and straight screen bezels.

Performance

Oppo Reno 4 Pro vs Reno 4 vs Reno 4 Z performance

Reno4 Pro: suitable for the most demanding tasks, fast charging

With its Snapdragon 765G processor and 12GB RAM, the Reno4 Pro is suitable for the most demanding tasks. You can use demanding image editing programs or 3D games without any problems. You can also quickly switch between different apps. The 256GB storage not only offers space for all your apps and photos, but also for your film and music collection. The 4000mAh battery doesn't always get to the end of your day. That's not a big deal though, because with the included 65W charger you can fully charge the device within 36 minutes.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro vs Reno 4 vs Reno 4 Z speed

Reno4: less powerful, less storage

The Reno4 has the same processor as its bigger brother. This device also works smoothly in daily use. The 8GB RAM is slightly less than that of the Pro. As a result, the device sometimes has more trouble with demanding apps and games. The 128GB storage has room for all your apps and files. The 4020mAh battery is larger than that of the Reno4 Pro and Z, but this difference is negligible. You can also fully charge this device within 36 minutes with the included charger.

Oppo Reno4 Pro or Reno4 or Reno4 Z speed

Reno4 Z: comparable processing power, slower charging

The Mediatek MT6873V processor of the Reno4 Z is the slowest of the 3. But you can use the device for average use. The smartphone is powerful enough for apps such as YouTube, Instagram, and Wordfeud. Just like the Reno4, this smartphone has 8GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. In terms of size, the battery is comparable to the other members of the Reno4 family. Charging is considerably slower with 18W. Charging from 0 to 100% takes approximately 90 minutes.

Conclusion

It's clear that Oppo has positioned the Reno4 as the basic model. Is taking sharp photos in every situation important to you? Then the Reno4 Pro with its telephoto lens and night mode is a better choice. This device also has more processing power, a lot of storage space, a better screen, and a luxurious look. If you don't watch a lot of movies, the lesser screen of the large Reno4 Z won't be an issue. Charging does take up to 3 times as long on this device as with the Reno4 and Reno4 Pro though.
