Advice on hard drives

You're looking for extra storage capacity so you can save your vacation photos, HD and 4K movies, Office documents, and game saves. With an internal or external hard drive, you'll have more space at your disposal to store files. Which one do you need, and what's the difference?

External hard drive

An external hard drive is flexible in its use. You can connect and disconnect it time and again. You'll use an external hard drive mainly for sharing files between different devices. For example, move your vacation photos onto a drive to watch them on your smart TV.

Internal hard drive

You'll install an internal hard drive into a device, such as your desktop PC, laptop, NAS, or console. In order to do this, you'll first have to open your device so you can connect your hard drive between the rest of your components.
