How do I change the sleep and hibernation mode settings on my laptop?
Step 1: Open Power settings
Click on the Windows logo in the bottom left of your screen. Type "power options" and click on "Edit power plan."
Step 2: Open the plan settings
You're now looking at your laptop's power plan settings. Click the option Edit power plan near the power plan listed in bold, since this is the plan that currently applies on your laptop.
You'll now see an overview with the settings for your power plan. Click on the blue link with "Change advanced power settings."
A new window will open with all advanced settings for your plan. Find the option Sleep and expand the list by clicking on the plus sign.
Step 3: Change the plan settings
By now clicking the plus next to "Sleep after" and "Hibernate after," you can decide after how many minutes your laptop will go into sleep mode or hibernation mode. For instance, if you enter 0 minutes under "Sleep after" and "Plugged in," your laptop will never go into sleep mode as long as it's plugged into a socket.
Once you're satisfied with the settings, click OK. You've now changed the settings for sleep and hibernation mode.
