Pros and cons

According to our Studio microphone expert
  • The microphone recordings are clear, which ensures your vocals cut clearly through the background music.
  • You'll have little trouble with noise with this microphone.
  • The microphone reproduces loud sounds clearly, thanks to the high sound pressure level.
  • The microphone doesn't include an XLR cable and pop filter.
  • A condenser microphone only works if you supply it with 48V phantom power, so be sure to buy a dynamic microphone if you don't have a device that transmits 48V phantom power.

Description

Want to record clear-sounding vocals or instruments in your home studio? The Audio Technica AT2020 is for you. Thanks to this models' cardioid directional characteristic, you'll be easy to understand at the front of the mic. It won't record ambient noise. This will save you work when mixing, since you won't need to suppress noises with an equalizer. Since the microphone has a large sound pressure level, you can go nuts when playing a solo. The signal won't clip easily. Use the included clip to simply place the microphone on a stand.

Note: you need to provide a condenser microphone with 48V phantom power. Don't have a device that provides 48V phantom power? Choose a dynamic microphone instead.

    Does what it promises :)

Dina | 29 October 2020 | Type of microphone connection: USB

    • Nice sound, almost no noise
    • Easy to use, compatible with Mac
    • Volume control for the output/input sound
    • Don’t notice anything critical yet

I’m really enjoying it now, it seems like a good money/quality ratio for non-professional vocals/narrative. I’ve got it after reading very positive reviews and it seems worth the praise, although I don’t have much experience with mics from this price range.

    Good, relatively cheap mic

Thomas Willemyns | 3 September 2020 | Type of microphone connection: USB

    • good audio quality
    • USB Cable
    • Relativly cheap
    • Somewhat unstable mic stand

I bought this mic after wanting to upgrade from my basic blue snowball mic, this mic was perfect for the quality it provided and the price.
