"Excellent choice for clutter-free quality sound"

Paulius Kulikauskas | 17 May 2019

  • Pros:
Wireless ClearNet between the two speakers
  • Pros:
    Option for BT aptX HD
  • Pros:
    Quality of sound
  • Pros:
    Choice of inputs
  • Con:
    Noting, really

1. Sound quality is amazing: tonal balance clarity of resolution is very good. Bass is amazing not just for this size of speakers - I had to equalize half of avalable bass out as it is too much for me! Will be enough for anyone.
2. BlueTooth 5.0 aptX HD works well, the connection and sound transmission quality is excellent. Choice of inputs and sources is very wide and versatile. I wanted to wait untilI I can draw cables so I use Blueetoth for music and optical for TV not to bother with pairing the TV. Now I am considering two more options: connecting to PC by USB, or running RCA from my preamp. Very happy to have all these choices.

"Speakers to retire with"

George-Cristian Florea | 19 October 2020

  • Pros:
strong bass and low end, even if no subwoofer included
  • Pros:
roomfilling sound, 10% is enough for the living room, 25% is enough for a small concert
  • Pros:
amazing tweeter, gives clasic and atmosferic music a new perspective
  • Pros:
solid construction and wood finish, attention to detail
  • Pros:
a lot of connectivity options, can be played just from your phone or pc w/o amp or audio card via USB
  • Con:
controlls on the back, hard to access making remote your only choice
  • Con:
equlizer options bring nothing, change is to subtle to notice
  • Con:
they sound very analytical, less emphasis on the mids

Just received these and have been using them heavily, testing with various connections + sound sources. I mainly use them with my PC but also tested BT. As expected fast pairing and APTX HD is there, granted you have a supported device. Optical and RCA - jack connections sound pristine, both used with my dedicated audio card (SB AE-7). Haven't tested the USB connection yet but I heard it does wonders without requiring specialized equipment.

Solid build, very heavy, keep in mind it will take a lot of space on the desk and each has around 10kg, recommend placing them on speaker stands or inside a solid bookshelf.

Easy to install, there is no wire between, you need 2 plugs to connect them (1 for each). Was afraid this would mean loss of quality or desync due to heavy wifi/bluetooth pollution in my room, it was not the case. It seems whatever proprietary tech they use for this is doing a good job of filtering noise and has enough bandwidth to not saturate whatever source you would give it.

Controls are nice and varied, lots of options, build quality is top notch, dials look like they can take a lot of use, unfortunately they are placed on the back so access is limited once installed. They supply a small and functional remote, useful for play/pause, volume, next/previous but also used to change inputs and the 4 EQ modes. The display under the right/active speaker is hard to read unless you are close to it, judging by the position of the text you can easily get used to what it’s trying to tell you (TIP: BT is always the last option).

I am surprised by the bass presence, it’s a bit too much even for my taste (I set the bass dial at minimum and in some songs you can still feel the room shake). You would definitely not miss a subwoofer using this. Clarity of lows and mid lows is also good, there is no muddiness that you usually find in cheaper speakers.

Highs are next level, listening to any genre brings a level of clarity I have never heard in a different speaker before. EQ presets don’t bring much to the table, although I would recommend dynamic in general and classic for orchestra music (try Star Wars soundtrack on this, just sublime). Sound is also quite deep and aery, giving you a sensation of feeling the music like it’s coming from the artist, not a digital recording. Specs show 8W for each speaker tweeter wise but I can tell you is more than enough. I have heard speakers with more power rated for the highs that sound just blunt and dry. Definitely the strongest point of the offering.

The only point I would say as a negative on the sound side is the mids, a bit lower than other offerings. Could be considered less “fun” by most people - they are analytical and you can’t have everything. For people that like a good studio style sound, balanced music offering, big orchestra presence and a cinematic experience this is perfect.

Price wise, they are not cheap but if you plan to invest in a pair of speakers that are versatile and want to spend less than 1200 EUR, this is the perfect choice. I easily see myself listening to these in 30 years when I retire.
