Product Expert laptops

If you work with graphic design projects in programs like Photoshop and Premiere, choose the 15.6-inch Lenovo Yoga 730-15IWL 81JS0065MH laptop and tablet in one. Flip the keyboard 360 degrees to use the Yoga as a tablet by scribbling notes on the touchscreen. This Lenovo Yoga comes with an Active Pen. You can use it to sketch in programs like Adobe Photoshop by drawing on the screen. After your creative ideas are recorded on digital paper, you can relax with a game of Fortnite, for example. This game runs smoothly at average settings thanks to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 video card. Even when you have programs running in the background at the same time, since 16GB of RAM gives you plenty of memory.

"Real nice work horce with significant capabilities"
In the version: i7 - 8GB - 256 GB SSD - GTX 1050

By Dmytro Ogorodnyk on 20 July 2019

  • Pros:
    fast
  • Pros:
    good cooling
  • Pros:
    tablet mode with touch screen
  • Pros:
    active pen in kit
  • Pros:
    good manufacturer support
  • Con:
    2 USB ports
  • Con:
    No cardReader

Searched a notebook for simple graphics design tasks (as a beginner level) and 3D engineering tasks (as a professional) with the main focus on the following expectations: 1) fast balanced system without real bottlenecks, good production quality, light weight.
Significant while choosing were fingerprint reader and thunderbolt connection capabilities.
Important were dimensions that is why initial focus was on a 14inc system. BUT there were no models with similar functionality for the similar price.

Bought Lenovo Yoga 730-15IWL 81JS005DMH from CB in open=new condition, original package.
the package delivered full with all accessories, no signs of use, no scratches found, no damage.
the Laptop visually from outside new, no scratches, no damage.
Inside - the screen touched by fingers in a few places. cleaned - no scratches, no damages, no burned pixels.

initial windows set-up annoying sequence of around 30 minutes (Windows OS to blame, no questions to Laptop).
After initial setup and connection to internet found all necessary drivers (no need to fix something immediately).
Still went to the laptop service page and downloaded all recent drivers. Installed with no issues - easy and quick (for some computers it is really a pain in the ass process where you have to find a proper sequence first).

The first feelings very positive

Important note here: the screen brightness flickering while the video-drivers are not in place (probably automatic adjustment feature from OS). After the drivers installed - all works as expected.
Max Screen brightness just a bit less than I am used to with my former laptop (never use the max brightness anyway: not an issue).

Keyboard: soft touch and sensitive, nice response. Backlit is equalized balanced over the panel, soft.
Need to be ready, that some functional key combinations Fn+ are not working as you expect. The function key is set to be activated by default. If annoyed need to change BIOS setting (after a week still keep defaults)

touch-pad:
sensitive, responsive. A bit annoyed while clicking left button (touch pad is not divided, so in fact area where you expect the left button) there is a rattling feeling/sound. Not always, but often.

Fingerprint - works great from the beginning.

Bluetooth:
found quickly active pen (great tool I believe, but need to get used to that). Same with the wireless headset.

Really impressed with the touchscreen/tablet mode+ active pen stylus.
I used to have touch screen display without a stylus and barely used it. But with active pen it is definitely other planet...
There is a pen holder bracket included in the package which has to go to one of 2! (two) USB ports. Ok there is thunderbolt USB port as well which makes it 3 or how many you want with a doc-station.

Also did not check initially specification completely (my mistake): no card reader of any kind. Surprised but can live with that.

Touch screen rotates 360deg which is great for the tablet mode: it switches automatically your keyboard off after display rotated.

Tried already a few simple open source tools for a photo-realistic rendering...
It would serve my tasks (luxcorerender).
Graphics also tested with the DCS from Eagle Dynamics combat flight simulator. Works good on medium settings.
