Pros and cons

According to our dryer expert
  • The FragranceDos fragrance flacon provides your laundry with a fresh smell, if that's what you want.
  • The PerfectDry system prevents your laundry from shrinking with humidity sensors.
  • Thanks to the spacious 8kg drum capacity, you can dry the laundry of 3 or 4 people.
  • The condenser isn't completely self-cleaning, so you have to clean it at least 2 timer per year.

Description

The Miele TSD 443 WP EcoSpeed is an A+++ heat pump dryer for the laundry of 3 or 4 people. The dryer dries a full drum of laundry in 2.5 hours in a very energy-efficient way. And thanks to the low drying temperature, your laundry will look new for longer. You can use the dial to choose from programs for wool, bedding, and dress shirts, for example. You give your laundry a fresh scent with FragranceDos while drying. One fragrance flacon lasts for about 50 cycles. You decide how strong the fragrance should be. The drum lighting ensures that you don't forget a sock, even in the dark. If you have a water drain, connect the dryer to it with the included condensation drain hose. This way, you no longer have to empty the condenser reservoir.

Well-functioning dryer, end signal is missing

  • Dries very well on "extra dry"
  • Fragrance system very pleasant
  • "Closet dry" is in practice "slightly wet"

To get that out of the way, this is our first dryer, so we don't have anything to compare it to. We have always had a spacious attic where the washing machine was and we hung the laundry. If the weather allowed, we opened a skylight for extra ventilation, but in our new house that was no longer an option because of the connection in the utility room. So off to the dryer. It was a necessary evil for us, because we try to be as energy efficient as possible and have never had a problem with hanging the laundry and letting it dry. Even as a family with 2 young children. So now on to the dryer and the requirement was simple: we want the best possible device that protects our clothing as well as possible and is as energy-efficient as possible. A+++ was therefore a requirement and we looked at this Miele and a somewhat cheaper AEG. It soon became clear that in terms of program duration and noise level, the two gave little to each other. But the Miele turned out to give a drying result A compared to the AEG with B. The reviews of both seemed to confirm this, despite the fact that there is a reasonable price difference and the good name of Miele has convinced us. And our (now) 12-year-old Bosch washing machine was also one of the better ones at the time, it still works and that's what we expect/hope from the Miele. A world has opened up to us. This is not to say that we no longer want or cannot do without a dryer, but we did not expect the laundry to come out so soft and fragrant. Now the laundry used to be fine, but because you hang it up in a neutral room, the odor ultimately also demands neutral and you don't have much of the detergent or fabric softener left. That is different with the dryer, the smell stays in it and because you put clothes or bed linen directly in the closet, the smell is still there the next time you pick it up. It is called FragranceDos at Miele and it works simply, but the smell can be very strong if you dose too much. We started half open, well... we knew that for 3 days, both the utility room and the bedroom where the clothes were stored, have continuously had that smell. It's a nice scent, sure, but it was like walking into a perfume shop. We say you just have to love it. Since then it has been set to "as good as closed" and we find that the most pleasant, a light fresh scent, that's all. What is striking is that "closet dry" is not really dry, a lot of clothing is still partly damp, especially the collars and edges of thicker garments and t-shirts. We tried that 3x: with colored laundry, towel washing and bed linen. The towel wash went the best, but was also just not dry enough for our feeling. Since then we use "extra dry" and although it will of course cost more energy, it is necessary, because otherwise you have to hang it up to dry. And that is no longer the intention. The PerfectDry Sensor also works very well, within 1 minute you can see the total time, which seems to be quite right. We also had a time when we thought the dryer was ready, I opened the door and took out the laundry, but still found it (on extra dry) too wet and then I noticed that the screen 0: 27 indicated. So I was half an hour early. Apparently, unlike a washing machine, you can just open the door and you will not receive a warning. This is partly because the screen also turns off after about 10 minutes and you then have to touch the screen on the left to see the time again. The drying cycle is not finished until it reads 0:00. Nevertheless, I put the laundry back in, turned the machine off and on again and just saw what it would do by selecting the same program. It started at the default 2:45 (approximately, don't quote me on that) and after a minute the PerfectDry Sensor showed 0:34 again. 7 minutes difference from before, but that will probably have to do with opening the door and losing heat. We find that the most impressive thing about the dryer, that the estimate works so well. It is a pity that no final signal sounds, the screen goes off automatically and you are therefore (because it is always an approximation in terms of time) still walking back and forth. This will undoubtedly take some getting used to when you get to know your own device, but from this price range I would have expected at least a better explanation of the end of the drying cycle. Then the filter: it is little work, but it is a small hassle to clean that filter every time. The dustbuster or just making a fluff ball with your fingers works fine, but it goes without saying that we do find this a disadvantage. The Miele will certainly not be the only one, but in the general sense this is a disadvantage of a dryer, as is the need to empty the reservoir. Finally, the noise level: this is a bit twofold, because it is quite quiet in itself, but at times also gives an annoying hum that continues. We haven't experienced that at every turn, so we'll keep an eye on that. Without that hum it is nice and quiet, but with hum it is annoyingly present. The conclusion is that we are very satisfied with our first dryer. It takes some getting used to, but you get a lot of advantages in return, although there are also a few disadvantages that will partly be a matter of getting used to but also partly inherent in using a dryer.

Top dryer with top service from Coolblue

  • Very user-friendly
  • Pleasant lighting in the dryer
  • I can't find it

I am very satisfied with this fine, very economical dryer. It dries even full drums as bone dry (on the cotton program and extra dry). Also nice that fitted sheets no longer twist together when the drum is full (on the program bed linen and extra dry). The dryer adjusts the time with a full or less full drum. The fragrance flacon is a pleasant, but also expensive addition. Very pleasant that the condensation can go through the water drain. That saves you emptying the condensate tray every time. This saves a lot of time and hassle, especially when using about 10 drying cycles in a week. Never regretted this purchase for a second!

Nice and solid dryer, highly recommended!

  • Easy to clean the filters
  • Quiet
  • No acoustic end signal

Nice big drum, with lighting. Filter is easy to empty, construction feels sturdy. Simple operation, a pity only that the display goes out. (Perhaps yet to be set?) This dryer is also quite heavy (53 kg) compared to our old dryer. In addition, the dryer only emits 5% moisture into the room and you notice that. The room remains much drier compared to the previous drier. It is a fine dryer and recommended if you have the means to buy a dryer in this higher segment. That is a lot of money for such a device.

Great asset. Uses little energy, dries well

  • Wonderfully soft and fresh laundry
  • Easy to operate
  • How noisy

Drought fine! Easy to operate. Makes a bit more noise than the condenser dryer, but because it is in a separate room here, that is not a nuisance. Cleaning the second fluff filter takes a little longer than we were used to. Program takes a little longer than condenser dryer, but is generally not too bad.

Good product for the right price

  • Compared to previous dryer a lot quieter
  • No squeaking at the end of the wash

Likes it well, I've read a lot of reviews about the laundry not drying properly. However, it says in the manual that you can program this yourself. I have now indicated under the cupboard dry program that it could be slightly drier. Problem solved.. nice dryer, hopefully it will last as long as my parents' Miele (20 years)
