Which type of Nespresso Vertuo machine suits you?
The Nespresso Vertuo is available in 5 series: the Vertuo Pop, Next, Plus, Creatista, and Lattissima. All machines make coffee the same way, but they differ in the number of coffee specialties, look, functions, and size. We'll go through the differences and similarities on this page. Vertuo Plus and Pop: 4 coffee specialties
With the Vertuo Plus and Vertuo Pop, you can make 4 different cup sizes. A 40ml espresso, a 80ml double espresso, a 150ml gran lungo, and a 230ml mug. The machine scans the barcode on every capsule. This way, the Vertuo makes a cup of coffee with the correct ratios. The Vertuo Plus has a larger water tank, so you have to refill is less often.
Veruo Next: 5 coffee specialties
The Vertuo Next can make 1 extra size in addition to the same sizes as the Pop. That's a 535ml pitcher. That's a large coffee to share with others. This way, you can drink a different cup of coffee at every point during the day.
Vertuo Creatista and Lattissima: also make milk specialties
In addition to the 5 coffee specialties, you can also make milk specialties with the Vertuo Creatista and Latissima. With the Creatista, you can use the steam wand for this. Vertuo Plus: automatically
The Nespresso Vertuo Plus opens automatically at the push of a button. This way, you can easily place a capsule in the holder. Afterwards, it closes on its own and the machine gets started with your coffee. When the coffee is ready, the used capsule falls into the container.
Vertuo Pop, Next, Creatista, and Lattissima: manually
The Nespresso Vertuo Pop, Next, Creatista, and Lattissima don't open on their own. You have to open these machine manually with a slider. When you put the capsule in the holder, you close the machine. Afterwards, press on the button so the Vertuo starts making coffee.
Size and water tank
Vertuo Pop: compact size
The Vertuo Pop is the smallest Vertuo from the series. This way, it easily fits on your countertop because it takes up little space. It does have a smaller container for at most 8 used espresso capsules and a small 0.6L water tank. You have to empty the container and refill the water tank sooner than with other Vertuo machines.
Vertuo Next: average size
The Vertuo Next is a bit larger than the Nespresso Vertuo Pop. In terms of looks, these machines look most alike. The 1.1L water tank is at the back of the machine. You have to refill it after you make about 7 gran lungos. The container can fit 10 used espresso capsules.
Vertuo Plus, Creatista, and Lattissima: large size
The Vertuo Plus, Creatista, and Lattissima are the largest coffee machines of the series. Due to the moveable water tank of the Vertuo Plus, it has a larger size. This way, you can place it in a corner more easily and turn the water tank to the other side. The Creatista and Lattissima are larger as well, due to the milk system and wide water tank.
Connect with Bluetooth
You can control the Vertuo Pop, Next, Creatista, and Lattissima with your phone via WiFi and Bluetooth. If you do so, you get access to useful videos, software updates, and help with maintenance. In the app, you get a useful explanation about descaling and rinsing the coffee machine. You also get a notification when it's time to clean the coffee machine. The Vertuo Plus keeps track of when you need to descale it on its own.
