What's the best setup for solar panels?
Solar panel setup on a flat or pitched roof
Flat solar roof
We have more ways of installing solar panels on a flat roof than on a pitched roof. In most cases, an east-west setup is the best. When all solar panels face the south, this causes a shadow on the back row. With an east-west setup, the back of the panels face each other at a 10° angle. In addition, more panels will fit on your roof that way. This results in a higher yield and better output.
Pitched solar roof
On a pitched roof, it's often better to face the panels to the south. Don't you have a roof that faces to the south, but you do have one facing the east and west? An east-west setup will work well too. In that case, we'll install the panels on both sides of the roof. That way, your solar power system will catch sunlight both on the east and west side of your house.
