Save energy heating

A large part of your energy bill consists of heating costs. You save a lot of energy by heating your house sustainably. Consider floor heating, good insulation, or automatic temperature control, for example.

Kitchen saving tips

Kitchen

You can easily reduce your energy consumption in the kitchen. Make sure your fridge has enough ventilation space. It also helps if you replace old appliances. What applies often is: the older the appliance, the more power it consumes.

Save energy lighting

Lighting

Still have incandescent or halogen light bulbs? Replace them with LED or compact fluorescent lights. You can also lower your energy bill by only using your lighting when you really need it. Profit from the daylight during the day to save energy, for example.

Reduce TV energy

Media & Entertainment

You can save energy on your television, sound system, or computer with the same ease. For example, choose a TV that isn't too large. The larger the product, the more energy it consumes. Frequently asked questions

Questions Answers.
Questions Answers.

What will save me the most on my energy consumption?

We recommend that you first look at your gas consumption. These costs are higher than your electricity costs on average. Keep your windows closed as much as possible to prevent heat from escaping from your home. And turn your heating down 1 degree by default. You'll earn back a thick sweater in no time.

Can I reduce my installment amount if I consume less monthly?

Of course! If your consumption is a lot less than your installment amount, you can change your installment amount. You can easily do this yourself in My Coolblue Energy.

Is it true that I can save a lot with insulation?

Yes, insulating your home is a good step to use less gas or heat. We don't offer this service, so you can hire an installer for it.

What's the standby power of TVs, audio, and power strips?

That can add up considerably. Tip: switch off your devices completely or put your TV on standby when you're not using it.

My energy consumption is higher than last year. How is that possible?

This can have multiple reasons. Because it was colder or warmer than usual, for example. Or because the situation in your house has changed: a renovation, the purchase of energy-consuming products, or a change in the size of your household. It's also possible that one of your appliances is old or broken. Pro tip: if your washing machine is 7 years old and you replace it with an energy-efficient A+++ version, you can save up to € 80 per year. Don't want any surprises? Regularly check if your current consumption is in line with your installment amount.

What's an energy label?

An energy label shows how (in)efficient an appliance is. Energy labels often range from A+++ to G. Note: from March 2021, the energy labels A+++ through G have been replaced by A through G. Always look carefully at the legend accompanying the label.
