Tip 1: plan your route in a smart way

Tip 2: save on charging costs

With an electric car, you can save on your charging costs quickly and easily. Charging with your own charging station is cheaper than at a public charging station. Do you have solar panels or a dynamic energy contract? Charge the battery when the sun's shining or it's very windy, so the energy rates are low. You'll pay less for a full battery this way.

Tip 3.: drive efficiently

With electric driving, your driving style plays an important role. The less you speed up or brake, the longer your battery remains full. This lengthens the lifespan of your battery. Use the regenerative braking function as well. With this, you win back energy while you brake so you won't need a new charging session as quickly.

Tip 4: take note of the weather

The battery consumes more energy in winter to keep your car warm. This shortens the operating radius, so the battery won't last you as long. Is the outside temperature dropping? Plan an extra charging session so you won't be stuck on the side of the road with an empty battery. With some cars, you can preheat the battery with preconditioning. This way, the battery has the right temperature while charging.
