Do you pay VAT on solar panels?
Since 1 January 2023, you no longer pay VAT on solar panels. This also means you can't reclaim VAT anymore. Will the solar panels be placed on your commercial property? You do have to pay 21% VAT. In this article, we'll tell you more about it.
0% VAT for private use
The government decided that you no longer have to pay VAT on the purchase and installation of solar panels after 1 January 2023. This means you also don't have to reclaim it. You pay no VAT when you place your solar panels on your house, sunroom, shed, garden house, vacation home, garage, or the extension of a house.
21% VAT for business use
Will the solar panels be placed on commercial property? You do pay 21% VAT. You can reclaim this amount via your tax returns.
