What's a home battery?
A home battery stores energy that you can use later. You can often use such a battery with solar panels. You can store the energy that you generate during the day with your solar panels and don't need right away in the battery. You can use that energy later, for example at night or when the sun isn't shining.
Is a home battery something for you? This is our vision
Most people choose a home battery to store their own solar power. This way, you can use more of your own generated energy and less of the power grid. The batteries are selected for this.
With dynamic energy rates, you can also smartly buy and sell energy. That's useful, because you earn back your battery faster this way. Our batteries can all do this.
There are also other applications, like energy as backup or trading at the balancing market. But to be fair: you don't get much for it now or you need expensive, larger batteries. That's why we don't offer these. Are you in doubt if a battery suits your situation? Maybe a charging station or heat pump is a better idea. We're happy to help you make the best choice.

Look at more than the payback period
Storing energy when it's cheap, use it when it's expensive. Sounds logical, right? Still, the payback period of a home battery is hard to predict. That's because of the fluctuating energy rates and uncertainty about what you receive for energy that you deliver back. We estimate that the payback period will be 10 to 15 years. That's why we advise a home battery mostly as smart step to be less dependent on the power grid. This starts with storing your own solar power. Are you curious what suits your house best?
Misunderstandings about home batteries
The battery is for seasonal storage
You can use a home battery to use power you generated during the day at night. In the summer, the battery fills up quickly. In the winter, it often stays empty. In the spring and fall, the battery charges and discharges once per day most of the time. The home battery isn't meant for storing energy per season.
Investing in them without solar panels
A home battery works best in combination with solar panels. Don't have panels? You buy energy, store it, and sell it back later. The difference in price is too small for this. That's why you don't earn back the battery.
A battery helps or taxes the power grid
A battery helps the power grid if you store solar power during the day and use it later. This way, you supply less at peak moments. Do you want to trade in fluctuating rates and use or supply a lot of power during busy moments? You increase the chance of grid congestion.
Smart combinations with a home battery
Use your stored energy for your heat pump
Use your heat pump at night with solar power from daytime. That's great during spring and fall, or for hot water throughout the year.
Charge your car with your stored energy
Charge your electric car at home with your stored solar power. This way, you drive more sustainably and affordably.
