The JBL Grip fits comfortably in the hand. The speaker is small and light, feeling like a can. The speaker can play at high volume and has a built-in light. Unfortunately, I can't see the battery level.
Original Design
The speaker's design reminds me of a can. When I pick it up, it feels just as light and small. I find this makes the speaker comfortable to hold. The flat bottom makes it stand securely on any surface. The flat top has a few control buttons. These allow me to quickly turn the speaker on or off and connect to other speakers. There's a built-in light on the back. I like that I can use it as extra mood lighting in my living room in the evening.
Clear and Powerful Sound
Despite its small size, I find the speaker delivers powerful sound. I can fill my entire living room with music even at half the volume. I also find the sound clear. I hear voices clearly in music and podcasts, and they sound realistic. Using the equalizer in the app, I choose the Energetic setting because I find the sound more powerful than the standard setting. I especially notice this with music genres like rap and techno. This speaker doesn't have open sides like some other JBL speakers. As a result, I hear the bass notes a little less deep and full.
Personalization in the app
The app offers many different options for the built-in light. I can choose different patterns, colors, and light intensity. I find this fun and useful because I use the speaker in different situations. The app also has an equalizer, which I use to fine-tune the sound to my liking. The app also shows the speaker's battery percentage. I appreciate this because the speaker only displays when the battery is low.
