I was looking for a good Logitech combo(=Keyboard+mouse) to replace my Logitech DiNovo.
However, the current range of Logitech combos is either only aimed at gamers or only at regular office use. That's why I chose this keyboard in combination with the Logitech Wireless Performance MX Desktop mouse.
The board has a very sleek design and even has the look that we sometimes find with modern HDTVs, namely a glass-edge look, a plastic edge such as with Philips. What is also striking is that the board is made to be mounted vertically. storage, when I place it next to my Philips HDTV you just see that this belongs in your living room.
The board detects your movement and will then illuminate the keys by means of LED lights, this system works very well, and everything is pleasant to read, partly because the keys are literally cut out with laser precision.
You can set the brightness yourself, if you use the board with your MediaCenter you will probably want to set it to the lowest setting, and for gaming to the highest setting, and for office use you can also simply turn off the lighting.
The sign uses NiMH batteries that hardly run out (stay charged principle), this battery will still hold 75% after 3 years of not using it. So you can simply remove these batteries yourself and replace them with your own set. Charging is done via a Micro-USB-type B cable (known from smartphones and new external hard drives).
You can do about 3 months without having to recharge (with serious use), and a status indicator (with three LEDs) keeps an eye on the battery status.
This board uses the new Logitech Unifying receiver, concretely this is a 2 mm thick USB pen that behaves like a BlueTooth hub with which you can connect up to 8 devices. What's more, you can connect your devices to multiple receivers. This system is fully integrated and this small stick contains everything you need, no extra software is needed via CD or internet, and the detection only took a second.
Since I also bought a new mouse, I was able to experiment a bit because every device comes with a Unifying receiver :)
I had connected receiver1 to my PC, then let everything connect (= just turn the mouse and keyboard off and on once) , everything was recognized immediately and worked fine.
I had connected receiver2 to my laptop, got everything connected again, when everything worked I put receiver2 in the Playstation3 and yes, it works perfectly on the PS3 :)
When I take the board away from the PS3 and get close to my PC (10 meters), where receiver1, it just continues as the keyboard of the PC :)
The board is a bit more expensive, but I think you really get value for money: it is a perfect multifunctional device, I use it as a PS3 keyboard, but also as a PC keyboard, and it can also be used as an HTPC keyboard, or for a laptop, tablet, smartphone (I haven't tried yet)..
The quality is really fantastic again, as I expect from Logitech high-end devices.
It also taps very quickly and not loudly, it can be compared to a high-end laptop keyboard.
There is also a Logitech bag with a micro USB cable, an extension cable and a plug where the USB cable can be plugged in to charge via the mains.
I couldn't find any negatives.
