Product Expert barbecues

If you want to do more than just grill, the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is the thing for you. This smoker allows you to both grill and smoke dishes. It has a large opening, so you can easily add briquettes and smoke wood to give meat, fish, and vegetables an aromatic smokey flavor. Use the integrated lid thermometer to keep a close eye on the temperature inside the barbecue. Since the barbecue has 2 racks and 2 levels for smoking and grilling, it offers a wide range of options. The water tray (filled with water, wine, or beer) prevents your dishes from drying out. Its compact size allows you to easily bring this smoker with you on holiday. The included cover protects the barbecue from dirt and rain.

"For the price it's a very good smoker"

  • Pros:
A lot of surface to cook on because of the second grate
  • Pros:
When the BBQ is set right the temperature stays quite steady
  • Pros:
The sturdy feet on the base keeps the smoker steady on the ground
  • Pros:
Good to cook for large groups of people
  • Pros:
For an 8 hour cook I didn't need to refill the charcoal and briquettes with rainy and windy conditions
  • Con:
The door doesn't fit nicely. It has a pretty large gap and the material is very light
  • Con:
The edges of the lit leak a little bit
  • Con:
I got instant damp in the thermometer (already when the weather was still nice) making it hard to read
  • Con:
It might be to big for two to four people unless you don't mind using a lot of charcoal

I had to get used to the size of the smoker. I've got the 57cm kettle, but it looks small compared to the smoker. That's because of the height of the smoker (two grilling grates). I noticed that it uses a lot of charcoal and in my opinion it's quite a lot if you're doing a cook only for one or two people. I guess it might even be to big for four people, but that is something I need to find out. Still the thing looks amazing in the backyard. I didn't like the lit for the charcoal on the side of it. It's poorly made, very light and it doesn't close it well. Also the leakage at the top isn't great. I'm going to test if bbq felt will do the trick.

I did like that the temperature kept pretty steady and that the meat came out well. I like have two grilling grates and the look of this amazing rocket. I like that if you want it to take it with you the smoker can be separated in several parts and I like that they've added the cover for the smoker. You don't have to buy that separate. Also I like the rubber ring at the side where you can put the probe through for your external thermometer.
