I was looking for a subwoofer that offers just a little more than the standard home-garden-and-kitchen edition. Soon I came up with the Jamo 210 and Yamaha FSW050. They don't differ much from each other.
In terms of connections, there is an LFE connection (subwoofer only) and a jacket for input devices such as a mixer. Scanty, but enough for my amp and most. It is also literally plug & play and it runs like a charm with a control for the bass on the front.
If properly tuned, the bass supports the front speakers very well. No dominant bass.
Finally, I went for the Yamaha because of its rather unique size and you can also place it vertically.
It now stands nicely next to my furniture, invisibly set up but an indispensable partner in my 5.1 setup. If I turn it off, I'll miss something.
