My girlfriend wanted a new laser printer for her photo/scrap/scrapbook hobby and because I didn't want to be stuck with two printers at home, I went looking for a laser printer that could print good quality photos for that same hobby, to replace an older one. HP inkjet printer. After a few days of browsing the internet for a new laser printer, I finally opted for the HP M252DW.

A lot is written on the internet about how laser printers are not good at printing photos, but I have to say that the first tests do not disappoint me at all. You have to do your best with the color settings and maybe make photos a little lighter than usual beforehand, but then you also get great photos for daily use.

A big advantage is that with this laser printer you can immediately get started with toner already installed, which would be good for 700 color prints. A nice feeling compared to the more traditional inkjet where I thought about "do I still have cartridges in stock?" and "is there still a shop open?" and "shall I buy expensive original ink next time?"

Now the toners that come with the printer can't necessarily be called cheap and in various calculations from last week, a color laser print was not necessarily cheaper than a print with an inkjet. The advantage lies in the fact that toner cannot dry out and you can therefore safely leave it unused for half a year without your ink becoming worthless. The latter is in my case purely theoretical because of the aforementioned friend with a hobby.

It is a relatively small laser printer, but in comparison with various inkjet printers, it is a bit larger. The advantage according to my girlfriend is that it is white and not black :) Incidentally, not many prints fit in the drawer, no problem for home use, but in an office where a lot of prints are made you will notice that you are the one every time finds the printer empty and needs to refill it.

Finally, a big compliment to Coolblue's service: this time they were a bit more expensive than one of the competitors who should also have had the printer in stock, but that disappointed me again (they make it tradition) by 24 hours after to report the order that the supplier had done something wrong, so that delivery would be a day later...
