For the price, this Smeg extractor hood is very good. I ended up using my own dowels and screws to hang the hood. The supplied manual was unclear on how to use the supplied screws and plugs. After I had hung up and connected the appliance, I noticed that it made a lot of noise, even on position 1. After some research it appears that the butterfly valve on top of the hood does not open completely, because it is blocked by the adapter between the hood and the exhaust pipe sit. I eventually removed the butterfly valve so that the extractor hood not only extracts a lot better, it is also a lot quieter. I also read in other reviews that other users find the Smeg noisy. This has to do with the butterfly valve that hits the reducer when the device is switched on. As a result, the air has to be forced past it, as it were, which makes much more noise.
