According to our WiFi speaker expert
With the Philips izzy BM5, you'll create a multi-room network with the push of 1 button. This compact speaker forms part of the Philips izzy multi-room system. Installation is simple: every time you press the Group button, you connect an additional izzy speaker. Since the speaker creates its own network, it doesn't need a working WiFi network, making the need for a router, password, or app unnecessary. Place a maximum of 5 speakers throughout your house and listen to the same song in different rooms. The integrated drivers have bass ports that produce extra-powerful audio. This means that, despite its compact size, you can use the speaker in medium-sized rooms, such as a study or large bedroom.

For several months in possession of the Izzy BM5, the little sister of the Izzy BM50. With us, the BM5 is used by the daughters who use the box for their own music during fitness, studying and/or chilling. The device therefore roams through the house and is used where necessary if the children need their own music. The sound quality is great! It handles all tones and beats well. At parties, the BM5 is linked to the BM50 (which we also have in our possession), which together have more options.
Connecting is a matter of plug and play, a solution for children who never read a manual. The BM5 is equipped with a volume knob, Aux input, Bluetooth connection and a USB input for updating the device.
The only drawback is that the wireless connection is made via Bluetooth, which means that the 'source' such as your phone or tablet quickly runs out. This is not up to Philips but up to the phone manufacturer to solve this. Although a connection via the wireless network, which is also possible nowadays, could be a solution.
In summary, a nice device with good sound quality that works well both on its own and in combination with the big sister Izzy BM50.
