According to our projector expert
The Optoma H183X is a WXGA projector that produces sharp HD images. The powerful lamp produces 3,200 ANSI lumens, which means you won't have to darken the room for a clear projection. This makes the H183X suitable for your living room or conference room. The high contrast ratio means you'll see bright whites and dark blacks, as well as ensuring true-to-life color representation. You can add another dimension to your favorite movies and series with the 3D function.

After much consideration, we decided to purchase this Optoma projector. A good compromise between HD-ready image and price. The beamer is used to watch football, series and movies.
Set up: Setting up the beamer is easy. Everything can be set with the remote control (quite small) or the buttons on the beamer: trapezoid, horizontal/vertical 'offset' and rotating the image. The legs can be turned out to point the projector up/down.
It has a grid in it to see if the image is projected straight.
The rotating ring for focusing is quite thin and very sensitive. This takes some skill.
The startup and shutdown is quite fast. The image is visible after about 15 seconds. Closing is even faster. The fan only runs for a few seconds.
Image quality: The image quality is good. Full-HD sources are displayed nicely sharp. Small details such as individual hairs are clearly visible. The quality is highly dependent on the settings. The different image settings are good but in my opinion still too colorful. Red is especially overrepresented. After some manual setting it gets a lot better. This does require some trial and error. Especially the color of faces is sometimes very red.
There seems to be a kind of automatic contrast in the beamer. Especially when the image goes from very dark to light, the image is overexposed for a few seconds. Then it picks up. This is especially visible in the 'game' and 'user' setting. The 'cinema' setting has this much less. There, however, the picture is on the dark side.
The beamer can be used in daylight. Good news with the European Championship where matches are played at 6 p.m. Of course, the image is less beautiful and the colors are somewhat faded. But it is still good to see. The further the sun goes down, the better the image. Once the sun is gone (or the curtains are closed) the picture is very good and a real cinema experience.
Sound and heat: The projector is remarkably quiet. A soft buzz/hum can be heard but not disturbing. The beamer is now placed on a table in front of the sofa. A fan is only briefly audible when the beamer is switched off.
I can be brief about the built-in speakers: I have not tested them. The beamer is connected to an A/V receiver. I also don't expect much from a few watts of built-in speaker.
It is great in terms of heat. My father's beamer (over 8 years old) blows a large amount of heat into the room. Not this projector. In the beginning, the beamer sometimes smelled of melting plastic, but that passed after a few hours.
Conclusion: The Optoma H183X fully meets my expectations. I can also recommend the beamer to anyone who wants to project a beautiful image for a competitive price.

After 9 years switched to the optoma H183x, compared to what I had, this is really a super Beamer. Just a pity that I have to pay 35 euros for 1 3D glasses and that 2 are not supplied as standard.
