Nvidia's 1000 series is fantastic, a big step up from the 900 series and specifically the 1070 is super affordable.
The size of the card is really a thing, it just barely fits in my fairly large closet.
The card stays super quiet, I tested it under WoW (with all settings at 10) and easily gets 70 FPS in dungeons, and 120 FPS in the world.
Under Overwatch everything can go well on the epic setting and it still feels like the map is not doing anything, I have not seen it warmer than 60 degrees.
I do recommend that you do not install the Nvidia supplied software, this tries to set up games for you and often these settings are not the way to get the most out of your card. I have now installed the ASUS software (for setting the LEDs & overclocking) and the Nvidia driver only and get a much higher performance.
The ASUS software thus lets you set the LEDs (for example: To music, shows the temperature of the card etc) which is very nice. You can also see the current performance, overclock it and switch to specific game mode (where it actually overclocks the card a little bit to get more performance).
