A huge solution for anyone who wants to listen to High-End sound from a computer via headphones, regardless of the source: File, Movie, CD, DVD, ... ! Connecting headphones directly often results in sad, tinny, bare, distorted sound (even with e.g. high-end headphones Sennheiser HD650), but the Apogee Groove is a full-fledged DAC & (Pre-)Amp that results in beautiful sound: solid bass, and fine, defined highs, with potentially such a high volume that you have to watch out for hearing damage! I find the Micro-USB connector a bit vulnerable, and it's a shame that it doesn't come with a piece of software with e.g. an equalizer. But yes: High-End = pure = no tinkering!
