I doubted for a long time about purchasing this device. Doesn't a cheaper device make good coffee just as well? Because in the end it's about the cup you put in it. Is the frother really necessary? After repeatedly reviewing all devices (also in a showroom at the competition), I always ended up with Citiz & Milk. I deliberately chose the white version. It is really beautiful and feels very robust.
A number of other users give the same negative points here in these reviews. Yes, the device does make some noise. However, it is and remains a coffee machine! Yes, the drip tray in which the cups fall is full very quickly. You have to keep that in mind. But what else do you expect if you want a very compact appliance on your kitchen counter...? In the meantime, I make the habit of emptying this in the evening after my last coffee. Problem (if it was) solved immediately. For me, the aforementioned 'negative points' are therefore rather negligible. What I initially found more of a problem was the temperature of the coffee. I like very hot coffee... and that was on the brink. After contacting Nespresso itself, the very friendly employee informed me that the temperature on ALL machines is set between 83° and 89°. She indicated that the Citiz is one of the top devices in her range and advised me not to exchange it for another device such as the 'Expert'. You can set the temperature there, but the warmest temperature will be similar to that of the Citiz. She did give me the tip to let a cup of warm water (without a cup) run through the cup first. This makes the water warmer and your cup is already preheated. That does indeed make a big difference. Very happy with the temperature of my coffee now.
I still have to say that I read that some people ask whether other cups of house brands (Albert Heijn, Delhaize, Douwe Egberts,...) also fit.
