The only thing that annoys and amazes me is the disk activity when no one is connected to the system. We've only had a small amount of data stored on the Qnap and yet it's stomping and rattling as if an entire company is processing data. I honestly don't know how to interpret all that activity, maybe I should dig even deeper into the configuration. But the unclear activities of the Qnap and the noisy hard drives mean that we often have the Qnap turned off, the Qnap is in the room. And of course, turning it off is not the intention of this system.
I have extensive experience with computer hardware and had done my homework before purchasing a NAS. But I'm not really impressed with the Qnap. I am afraid that this system will be used as a glorified external hard drive as the situation is now.
