I have had a weather station at home for decades. Usually they break after a few years because it is not professional equipment. Especially the equipment that hangs outside has a hard time. The climate in the Netherlands does its job! This time I opted for a somewhat simpler version because the weather station (with anemometer, rain gauge, etc. mounted on a pole on the shed) ate what I had batteries! In total, the device contained 9 AA batteries that had to be replaced after 9 months. Due to the arrival of very good weather apps on the smartphone or tablet, such an extensive weather station is no longer necessary for me. This time opted for the Cresta DTX370. That's the white version. The same device is also available in black under type no. DTX355. The display unit and the outdoor transmitter are made of solid material (plastic. Only 2 AA batteries are used in each. The weather station can be placed on the built-in base or hung on the wall. There is a screw hole at the back for this. The outdoor transmitter has a watertight battery seal with a rubber edge. I made it in a 'peanut butter bird house' because the UV sun rays often affect the white plastic. It fit exactly in the bird house. Is it a bit protected against the weather influences. The transmitter can also be placed. There has a built-in foot. The outdoor transmitter shows the outside temperature and humidity in a small display. Every minute a red LED light is visible to indicate that the transmitter is functioning properly. The manual is in Dutch but is not equally clear on all fronts For example, you have to enter the altitude of your place of residence in connection with the barometer reading, which you can find on the internet via w ww.krnwtr.nl (= elevation map of the Netherlands). However, you can only enter this height when you put the batteries in the weather station. It is therefore not possible afterwards with an already working device. Then you have to start all over again. The phases of the moon work at the place where the weather station is closest. The manual contains an overview of various places in the world, including seven major places in the Netherlands. You can set this with the 'mode' key and then keep pressing the 'minus' or 'plus' sign. On the back of the weather station are all control buttons (mode - plus - minus - history - channel and reset). The current time is controlled via the DCF radio signal from Frankfurt. Summer and winter time is automatically adjusted. After the weather station is switched on, all values are correct after 24 hours. So don't worry that, for example, the barometer and the weather forecast are wrong on the first day. This will all be displayed correctly after a day. The weather station is quite accurate with regard to the indicated values. (checked via a good weather app)
The readability of the weather station is very good. The numbers are nice and big and the contrast is good. The display hardly reflects and is easy to read from all angles. The weather station can also be used as an alarm clock. Of course I can't say anything about the power consumption after a week. Weather station dimensions: LxWxD 17cm, 12cm, 4½ cm (including foot). Dimensions of outdoor transmitter: LxWxD 9cm, 6½ cm, 3 cm (including foot).
In summary: for not too much money you can buy a nice and usable weather station.
