According to our robot vacuum expert
The LG VR9647PS Hom-Bot is a powerful robot vacuum with built-in camera to keep an eye on the house while you're away. You operate the robot vacuum and the camera with an app on your phone. See what the dog is up to, or check whether or not you switched off the TV when you left. Thanks to the motion detection function, the robot vacuum will take 5 photos as soon as it detects movement. This is very handy for when you're afraid of burglars during a weekend break. With the special brush, the robot also gets rid of pet hairs easily, while the square shape allows it to reach close into corners, and the distance sensors make sure the robot nicely maneuvers around everything. As a bonus, the robot uses a microfiber cloth to dust off the vacuumed surface. In short, your house will be clean ánd safe.

For those who don't feel like testing this entire review, I've briefly summarized the pros and cons here: Advantages:
Cons:
We have been using the LG HOM-BOT for almost two weeks now and I have to say that it has been very good so far. The LG HOM-BOT comes in a large box packed with a docking station, a power adapter, a remote control, a set of spare brushes and dust filters. I also expected an extensive manual in the box, but to my surprise, this was not included. The only manual available is one that explains (very briefly) how to install the LG app on your phone so that you can operate the HOM-BOT. This can be done fairly easily with an NFC tag, provided your phone has an NFC chip. I think it's a shame that LG needs your personal info (e-mail address) to install the app. I think you only need the app if you want to use the HomeGuard function of the HOM-BOT. This is a WiFi camera built into the robot that records the moment movement is detected and emails it to your phone. I have not delved further into this function and I therefore recommend that you do not use a vacuum cleaner robot if you want to monitor your house. There are better solutions for burglary protection than this. In addition, I also advise against this function if you are fond of your privacy. I have no idea where the images of your HOM-BOT all go (the HOM-BOT not only takes pictures but can also film). I therefore quickly removed the app and operate the HOM-BOT with the supplied remote control. This works great.
But what the HOM-BOT is made for, it does excellently in our opinion. He does our living room and kitchen (about 65m2) in about 45 minutes. That may seem long, but you turn it on and you don't have to worry about it anymore. You only notice how much has been cleaned when you empty the container. Although you can clean better with a normal vacuum cleaner, we do not do this every day and switching on the HOM-BOT is literally beeped with the push of a button. In addition, the HOM-BOT can reach places that are less easy to reach with a regular vacuum cleaner (under the couch, for example). Due to its square shape, it also cleans well along the baseboards. If we have to name one major drawback, it must be the sound production. This is of course less than with a regular vacuum cleaner, but we had hoped to let the HOM-BOT vacuum at night using the programming function. Not a good idea. Well, if you want to wake up the whole house. In short: very satisfied with the LG HOM-BOT. I would definitely recommend it to people who don't like to vacuum and keep this to a minimum. I can't say much about durability and maintenance. We've only had it for two weeks.

In our household was vacuumed daily, necessary also with 2 children and pets. On the wooden floor it is so fresh and pleasant on bare feet. Even though I don't vacuum cleaner myself, I found it a tedious job. A robot vacuum cleaner could take that off your hands. The high price and disappointing performance kept me from buying. However, time and technology have not stood still, so I took the step and bought the Hombot from LG. Not before I had properly orientated myself on the internet and listened to the experiences of colleagues. Cheap is expensive, so the choice fell on the LG Hombot. The Hombot is almost twice as expensive as other manufacturers, who also operate longer in this market. The expectations were therefore high. The first impression upon unpacking was particularly good. The device has an excellent build quality, and feels quite heavy. I had already reserved a nice spot for the charging station. The installation was very intuitive: plug in the adapter, install the app and follow the wizard. So a few minutes later, the Homot came to life. The LEDs on top came on and an English message sounded. And that's it!! The device for the default zigzag mode all corners of the ground floor and did that one simple task; vacuuming. In amazement, the family followed the Hombot to see how the LG maneuvered and performed its task. But also to solve initial problems. No matter how many sensors and intelligence, every robot gets wrapped up in shoelaces and charging cords. Also (too) long thin curtains are not safe. Exactly like an old-fashioned vacuum cleaner half sucks up a sock, or a beer cap. The moment of truth was the dining table with 6 dining chairs, 28 legs on 3 square meters. The Hombot showed what modern high-end robot vacuum cleaners are capable of. Without jams, every dust, crumb and especially sprinkles were cleaned up. Carefully making its way through the maze of chairs, the Hombot convinced me. The term robot vacuum is actually misplaced, the Hombot sweeps, 2 three-armed brushes on the front corners work the dirt to the central large brush on the bottom. Essentially a very old concept. My grandmother probably had a powerless handheld dust sweeper. The concept of 2 brushes at the front means that the device cleans in corners, and the lack of a suction motor ensures relatively little noise. The Hombot can also be used as mobile surveillance. As far as I'm concerned, a nonsensical function, a little IP camera can do that much better. It is important to enable the Homobot to move around the room. In my case, that meant the speaker columns a bit further from the stereo furniture, a seat slightly back, curtains slightly protected and very important: hiding wires, especially USB charging cables lying on the floor. In order not to unnecessarily bully the robot vacuum cleaner, dining room chairs are neatly pushed together, which makes things go much faster. Other obstacles such as duct wells with grid are avoided by LG after 1 jam as promised. This product lives up to almost all the claims of the roaring commercial!

We have had the LG HOM-BOT Turbo+ for a little over a week now. I think it's a great device! The design is sleek and modern, which naturally suits such a vacuum cleaner. A few buttons on the top, everything looks well organized. The supplied remote control is also clear, there is a handy holder in the charging station for this. I don't think the charging station is that big, what is a problem for us is that it needs 1.5 meters of free wall on both sides, with a radius of about 2 meters around it. Our house is simply too small for that. Doesn't seem to be a problem, the vacuum cleaner finds the charging station without any problems. As soon as everything had been read (grabbed the manual from the internet, viewing on the supplied CD-ROM was not convenient), let the first program run. The bot does what it has to do, which is to clear the floor of dust in the places it can reach. And that's quite a lot! He rolls over all kinds of obstacles. It can get stuck in wires, so you really have to get it out of the way before use. He also got caught on the tubes of a chair, these are just too smooth and too thick (3 centimeters in diameter). The first impression is certainly positive. We have now only used the zigzag program, in the coming weeks we will continue testing, together with our newly arrived kitten. Curious how that goes together!
