According to our console expert
Whether you're playing in the living room or in your bedroom, with a compact PlayStation 4 Slim, you'll be able to play the latest games like FIFA, F1 Racing, and Call of Duty. The stylish PS4 Slim is smaller, thinner, and more efficient than a PS4 Pro, so you can easily integrate it in your interior. Gaming, watching Blu-ray movies, or streaming Spotify can all be done on one device, with the PS4 Slim.
In contrast to its bigger 'Pro' brother, the slim doesn't have an optical connector for gaming headsets.

The Playstation 4 from Sony, which came on the market a few years ago.
For a long time I doubted whether I should buy a ps4 or ps4 pro. I am very happy with my purchase, why I will tell below.
I bought my ps4 during the Christmas period, in addition to the discount I got due to the Christmas season, I also had a voucher that I could use, for that price I couldn't resist any longer. It also couldn't beat the price of the Pro anymore.
Okay, first let's talk about the PS4 itself, instead of directly comparing.
I think the PS4 is still going strong in the console market. I mainly play on the computer, but I like to play exclusives on the console. And Sony has some great exclusives, and the library just keeps growing. To name a few: -Uncharted 4 -The Last Guardian
Spiderman PS4, Shadow of the Colossus, etc! The above are just a few examples of games that are right up my alley, of course there are a lot more.
In addition, the PS4 has a blu-ray drive to also watch movies with it, 4k movies do not support this drive (unfortunately). In my opinion, the HD 1080p market, especially for consoles, is far from coming to an end. The PS4 has two USB connections for peripherals and charging your controllers. In addition, all standard ports that we are used to such as HDMI, optical out, power, internet, etc.
A simple but slim design, with the matte white lacquer the console really shines in simplicity and style.
The dualshock 4 controller is a very nice controller, now the second version of the Dualshock 4, with a light bar on the touchpad, etc. Nothing special that actually distinguishes it from the previous version. Joysticks work precisely and buttons click nicely, the design is all a bit more mature and less toy-like than the predecessor to the PS3.
It is very nice to use the console with a Sony TV (Bravia) since you can then use the remote control of the TV to control the menu in the PS4, so I now watch Youtube on my PS4 rather than on my PC. Simply because it is faster, and only requires the remote control. It is also just a nice multimedia/streaming device. The PS4 has all kinds of apps that allow you to watch movies, stream, listen to music and also use the internet. Just think of Netflix and Spotify. Although it is all quite simplified and there is little to adjust, you do have the basis for a multimedia system reasonably at home.
The menu of the ps4 just works well and simply, you can put apps and games in folders to keep an overview.
Another advantage of the current generation of consoles is that games on disc can simply be sold again and are not tied to an account (provided you have a code for extra content with it, of course). am a gamer, and I get a kick out of getting games as cheap as possible ;) This is also handy in connection with the disk space, with 20 games the hard drive is already full, that's because the PS4 also installs all games on the hard drive . So if you download a lot of games from the playstation store, I recommend deleting games you no longer play, or getting a bigger or external hard drive.
It's not a problem for me since I mainly play exclusives and mainly buy on disc.
Graphically I still think the PS4 is a wonderful console, I find it strange anyway why consoles try so hard to resemble computers. This is precisely not where the consoles should get their power from, or at least put their focus on! An interesting future lies ahead for the console market.
If I want to play games on high-end specs with high resolution, then you're really better off playing on a PC. These days you can assemble a PC for a reasonable budget yourself, and also play at HD 1080p with everything on its highest settings.
My point is the following, and with that I also indicate why I didn't go for the PS4 pro: The PS4 Pro is a semi-successful 4k system, this is not an opinion of mine, but (unfortunately) a fact. Sony and Microsoft are trying to take the computers and 4k market by launching systems that support 4k, while we're not that long into the current generation of consoles. The problem with this is a lot of consumer confusion, and a generation of consoles that are sort of an interim upgrade.
The fact is that many games on the PS4 Pro are upscaled to 4k, so they don't run in native 4k (full resolution), so it's more like half-4k or 2k... In addition, I find it very strange that the PS4 Pro is so also no 4k Blu rays supported. So this is my big point, I'm slightly disappointed in Sony in this, it feels like a console that they wanted to put on the market quickly to compete with 4k and the latest televisions. Besides the fact that 4k has not yet completely broken through and many people do not want to put a lot of money aside for an upgrade, the Console is not even completely suitable for the complete 4k experience. Microsoft is already changing this with the Xbox one x, so I advise people to look at that console earlier if they really want 4k.
Because I think it's crazy to buy a PS4 Pro as a consumer just to get a little more sharpness in certain games, and not even be able to watch 4k movies. The PS4 pro may run games at 1080p in a higher frame rate with sometimes better graphics, but the difference is not even noticeable to the average consumer. My point is that you have to be very critical of whether a 4k or framerate fanatic to go for a console with (half) 4k... and that's the problem, then you shouldn't go for a console but for a pc, there you can put as much horsepower in your closet as you want, and even play in 8k ;)
In addition, I'm guessing, and we can conclude from various sources that the PS5 will probably be announced within the next three years, some say as early as the end of next year! And then you're sitting there with your expensive PS4 Pro....
Only buy a PS4 Pro if you can spare the money, and apparently you can't be satisfied with what the PS4 can do, the PS4 Pro will give you slightly better framerates in some games (even worse in others! ), and some sharper textures . But unfortunately it is not much more than that, if you have a 4k TV I understand the consideration. But with an HD TV I would really go for the PS4, also because you can get beautiful games for the 100 to 150 euros you save! The games still look great, especially if you're playing exclusives like me you really won't notice that much of a difference.
The problem with the Xbox one x for me is that all exclusives from Microsoft can also be played on windows 10!! This is a logical step for Microsoft, but could mean an end in a few years for true console exclusives, the console is (unfortunately) moving more and more towards wanting to be a computer. It will be interesting to see how Sony and Microsoft will deal with this in the future.
This concludes this extensive review ;) Buy a PS4 if you like exclusives, want a good affordable game console in the living room, and you don't really care if a few more pixels appear on the screen.
Do you want to play 4k games? Buy a good PC or go for the Xbox one X, the PS4 pro is then the last choice, and exactly as everything on the console shows; an interim upgrade.
Perhaps it comes down to the fact that as consumers we can be a little more aware of what we do and do not get and why, and that we also feed back that feedback as consumers. Because otherwise the big companies will decide for us what is best to buy, while the gems remain on the shelves.
Have a good 2018!
