We were paged out of bed at night by this baby monitor. We have therefore exchanged this for a similar one with which we experienced the same problem. The manual does not mention why or when it beeps (out of range (which in our case was not possible given the distance was only a few meters) or empty battery (but it is supplied by the manufacturer). Motorola is NOT the manufacturer of this product. It is only sold under the Motorola name.
