I have been using the Skybell HD trim for 3 weeks now
The device gives a very nice image, even at night everything is in color and clearly visible.
Camera works with 1080P but the recorded images are not, they are 1280x720. however, the image is significantly better than 1280x720. This was probably done to limit the upload bandwidth
You can switch the motion detector on/off and set the sensitivity to 3 positions from sensitive to less sensitive.
in practice, this means that the camera is sensitive to movement from far (a car drives past) to less sensitive, which means close and ensures that you get fewer incorrect messages.
app is easy to operate and you can give multiple residents access to the bell (1 administrator, the rest users)
all images are uploaded to the cloud for FREE and you can view/download yours up to 7 days back
Installing the bell is relatively easy.
Do you now have an analog bell (ding/dong, or tring)
old bell off, new skybel on.
replace old AC adapter with new DC adapter
Your old bell will work right away and you can even switch it on and off in the app.
Very useful if you don't want to be disturbed anymore or if you don't want your children to wake up if someone still rings the doorbell in the evening.
how does the Skybell HD work with your old doorbell.
The plus of the adapter first goes to the Skybel, then to your old doorbell (that thing that makes noise) and then to the minus of your adapter.
the moment you press the skybell and you have the old doorbell switched on in the app, it will shorten itself. This will send all the voltage to your old doorbell ringing)
This works exactly as it should and very easily.
However, this operation becomes a problem if you don't have a doorbell or you now have a digital doorbell
Do you have a digital doorbell (the kind with melodies) or your doorbell is already on a DC adapter, then you have to pay attention.
You then need an extra PCB (which you have to buy) that ensures that the digital gong rings when the push button on the skybel is pressed.
However, if you connect the Skybell HD and remove the old doorbell (the thing that makes the sound), you even need an extra resistance of 10 ohms/10 Watts.
This is too difficult for most people.
Different sites in the Netherlands all give different advice. One site says replace AC adapter with DC adapter, the other site says no. One site says that you can only use the skybell with the DC adapter and that you have to remove your old doorbell.
This advice is not complete and I would therefore not look at it.
My explanation above is correct.
So my advice
If you currently have an analog doorbell connected to an AC transformer (this is the most commonly used setting in the Netherlands), the Skybell HD is an excellent choice.
Do you have something else and you are technically no problem.
If you have something else and you are not technical, I would let this high tech bell shoot
