According to our HiFi speaker expert
The Dali Spektor 2 gets you a compact passive speaker set that's suitable for providing sound to a small living room. The 2-way speakers have a 25mm tweeter and a large 134mm woofer. Since the speakers have a bass reflex port on the back of the design, bass tones are rendered clearly. The wood finish makes the sound extra clear. This material reduces resonance, so there's no sound distortion. The speakers have a recommended amplifier power of 25 to 120W. This makes them suitable for most amplifiers or receivers.

Design: A fairly compact speaker. DALI logo is nicely incorporated into the front grill. I have the walnut veneer version, it suited my interior the best. The speaker is neatly finished. Decent speaker connectors (big plus). The walnut veneer isn't the prettiest I've ever seen. But considering the price, and fine from a listening position, nothing to complain about.
Sound: Dali makes excellent speakers in almost every price category, but the brand has been known for years for manufacturing very good sounding affordable speakers.
I have been familiar with the brand for years and have had several speakers from Dali, from different price ranges and in different rooms. I now live smaller, price also played a bigger role now than in the past. I ordered these speakers blind, which is of course a big gamble, but my faith in Dali as a speaker manufacturer was and is already there.
In addition to the quality of the loudspeaker, the quality of the sound also strongly depends on what your listening room/living room looks like, how you have set up the speakers and the quality of your amplifier and sound source.
I have the speakers on speaker stands, which I can recommend to everyone. Because you can position the speaker optimally. For example, the speakers are +/- 7 meters apart and the sofa is located between the speakers, about 5 meters in front. The big advantage of placing the speakers further apart (for example on a stand) is the same advantage that stereo sound in general has compared to, for example, a WiFi or bluetooth speaker (with only one box): It creates a stage in front of you, all instruments have a place within that stage... The music sounds much nicer and more natural. You get a 'life' experience. It's like having a band playing in your room. Instead of everything coming from one direction, there is a wide soundstage.
The music will generally sound best from the listening position if the speaker stand is the right height; when the tweeter is ear-level from the listening position.
The 'stage' experience while listening at home was also my precondition for not having to clean up my stereo system for a WiFi speaker (which is also much more expensive in comparison).
The Spector 2 creates a complete sound image. The need for a subwoofer is not there for me (I would probably have that with the Spector 1.). The sound does not stay on/in front of the speaker, but a nice image is created, depending of course on the sound recording. The soundstage is calm and detailed; absolutely not, boomy, shrill or sharp; how the low tones sound also depends on how you place the speakers, because of the bass port at the back, I recommend not placing them too close to the wall, or in a cupboard. You can listen to many types of music here; 50-70s pop/rock, blues and especially Jazz, is my department, this sounds very nice.
Ease of use: Dali advertises that the speaker is 'amplifier friendly', I don't - completely - agree with this. The speakers have a fairly low sensitivity of 84.5dB, which means that they need quite a lot of 'power' to play 'hard'. The speakers are also z6 ohms, instead of the common 8 ohms... Which means that they require a lot of power from the amplifier. You can connect a heavy - but above all - decent amplifier to it. Not necessarily just to listen to 'loud' music, but especially to supply the speakers with sufficient power, so that when you play hard the speaker is not damaged, but above all(!) to get a nice, full and wide sound image on a normal and low volume, the low tones will also sound much better. A moderately built weak amplifier will not make these speakers sound optimal; resulting in a 'small', 'thin' sound image . My advice is therefore not to connect this to a mini-set, I did this out of curiosity, this was quite disappointing: a speaker with a slightly higher sensitivity and requiring less power would be a better choice... Play here she on my nearly 10 year old C326BEE from NAD. To your complete satisfaction.
I mainly listen to vinyl (with a separate Phono preamp), Spotify, Tidal and internet radio (via Mac mini and a DAC). The sound is beautiful, I'm very satisfied for this money, but I wouldn't trade them for - some(!) - more expensive speakers that are currently playing with acquaintances and friends. With this I do not mean to suggest that there are no better speakers, but I do want to say that they are nice sounding speakers for a very nice price. Obviously, sound is very personal, I ordered these on the gamble, bearing in mind that I could return them to Coolblue, I knew/thought more or less what to expect and I'm not disappointed.
Possibilities: see ease of use
Conclusion: All in all very satisfied. This is a product from a more affordable line from Dali, but sounds very good. I have no experience with the lifespan of such a product, but the 5-year warranty is reassuring.

The first set of speakers for my HT setup. You certainly won't go wrong with Dali. They are compact, but the sound quality is not inferior. Certainly in comparison with my set of Logitech boxes for the PC. Soft treble (as in not sharp) that is not tiring to listen to and even the bass still comes out quite well for their size. 4 stars because well, there are always speakers that sound just a little better, but they will also cost more. You get a lot for your money with these speakers.
