Good fridge, quiet and spacious

No separate cool zone

After my Samsung SBS no longer wanted to cool (after 13 years), we opted for this LG. Unfortunately, there was no longer a single SBS that had a separate cool zone (small -5 freezer compartment in the fridge) and was affordable. And LG unfortunately does not have an SBS with a flap in the door, only a whole door that opens. That's a shame because that lid serves as a small bar to put your glass on while pouring. In addition, the door-in-door principle has now become a bit overkill, although it is handy that there are compartments in the extra door. Bit of a mixed bag, on the one hand it was handy that you didn't have to open the whole door to just grab the milk, on the other hand it is handy that you now have everything for your morning sandwich in one go. The Samsung was not very quiet, this LG, on the other hand, is a relief. He's about ten feet from our bed in the kitchen and we don't hear him anymore at night. The LG is also more spacious than the Samsung, with the same outer dimensions. This is at the expense of a completely flat top (so no more bottles on the fridge). The layout is fine, with many wide and high compartments. The freezer is also spacious, because the icemaker is in the door (and you can also partially replace it for an extra storage compartment if you don't want ice). Lighting is fine and even a bit too bright. The fresh system is of course not very useful and just another way to sell extra filters. The water filter is external and the standard supplied filter cannot be mounted on the wall. So now it lies on the floor and is rather ugly/clunky when changing (Samsung had an internal filter that you could just unscrew). If the filter needs to be replaced I think I will buy a semi-professional filter that can just be mounted on the wall and can be replaced with a normal 'release' (now you have to detach the whole hose from the filter, only a matter of time before this breaks goes and it will leak). There is a wifi option on it, completely useless if you ask me. The app that comes with it does not provide any additional information than what you can already read or set on the display.
