According to our baby monitor expert
The Alecto DIVM-550 is a WiFi baby monitor with a camera and a 5-inch touchscreen. You'll know what's happening in the baby room, whether you're at home or on the go. You can look at your child with the app and the included parent unit with screen. This is useful when baby sitter is at home and you want to check on the little one from the office. Use the parent unit to talk to your little one from a distance, and when you want to put the baby to sleep, you can put on a lullaby. You'll receive a notification on the parent unit in case the batteries run low and the range decreases. You'll receive a notification on the parent unit when the range becomes too weak, or when the batteries are almost empty. This ensures you won't ever have to face any unpleasant surprises. These features ensure that the baby monitor scores top grades in terms of user friendliness.
A baby monitor with a camera function can be compared to a smartphone that runs out faster when you play a video. The battery life is limited.Camera observation | ||

We received this baby monitor and were happy with it at first sight. Watching the app seemed ideal to us, but there are too many snags to be satisfied.
The idea of this baby monitor mainly resembles an IP camera, with a separately delivered monitor that runs on Android and shows the images from the app identically. Not a problem in itself if it works well.
The installation is not really difficult but very slow. Even after the installation, everything works quite slowly and the tabs do not immediately follow your orders. The connection can be made via WiFi, but a direct connection is also possible. This last one is super dramatic and I mean the range. He doesn't even make it to the next room. Then a link via WiFi remains, which is of course possible, but WiFi also has its range limitations. We do have a repeater, but with these beautiful days it is not available in the garden. Then the phone remains via 4G; and this is fine in itself - but in addition to data use, it is not ideal if you want to do other things on your phone and just want to put the normal baby monitor (monitor) on the table.
The image is especially beautiful on the (clear) app, on the monitor not too good. It is jerky and sometimes freezes. The sound is often delayed and certainly not clear, presumably because it goes via WiFi.
The most annoying thing is that after turning it on, it takes a long time before the camera is usable. First he spins in all directions and suddenly BRILLS "ready for connection!!". Not handy with a sleeping baby next to it!!
There is also a function that makes the image black after about 15 seconds (in principle fine), and activates it when the little one cries. Only in this case the little one has to roar again because we hear him screaming above but the monitor does not turn on at all.
The baby monitor comes nicely delivered in a nice box. Manual is also good. Still too little confidence in the stability and sound. So looking for something better.

After comparing some baby monitors, we decided to purchase the alecto divm 550. We wanted a parent unit with a camera and the option to monitor the baby monitor from a mobile phone via WiFi.
The installation is clearly described and this was also easy to do, but did not go smoothly. The baby monitor has the option of communicating with the parent unit either via direct connection or via WiFi. This was bad from the start with many malfunctions. He kept switching between the 2 types of connections, with the result that there was often no connection at all. You then have to reset the unit and then it often worked again.
Sound was loud with hissing from the start. Pretty irritating. But you don't want to turn it too soft either, because then you won't hear when the baby is crying.
Then it was regular that I no longer heard the noise and looked at the unit and the connection was lost again. Without notification! Then another reset and it worked again. This is not reliable and was not what I expected from a baby monitor of this price range...
Range shouldn't be an issue. The camera and parent unit was only one floor.
I had the baby monitor for 4 days with 2 days of intensive use during which I had to reset the unit at least 20+ times because it had failed.
I thought maybe I got a Monday morning model and contacted coolblue. Class service from coolblue because the baby monitor was exchanged for a new alecto divm 550 the next day without a problem.
After installation it indeed seemed better and more reliable, at least 1 day. The 2nd day the same problems started again. And at some point I couldn't even connect the camera to the parent unit! Everything back to factory settings and tried again but again no picture. Was done with this baby monitor then. Expect a high-end device for 230 euros that just does what I bought it for.
Contacted coolblue again. Again class service and exchanged the next day for a luvion grand elite 3 Connect. (I was already hesitating between these 2 baby monitors when I bought the alecto.)
I have been using the luvion for a week now and I am very satisfied with it! It works as you would expect from a baby monitor with these options!
All in all, great service from coolblue and in my opinion a bad product from alecto. I really wonder if they have tested this baby monitor before it is sold in the store :-) There may of course be a model that does not function well, but since I have had 2 it seems, in my opinion, a product with to much problems...

A clear image during the day and at night. You can rotate the camera image wherever you want with the screen and the app. The picture in the app is very good. The only drawback is that the sound sometimes a bit hiss when talking back. Very handy to use if you go out of range of the direct connection or if you want to watch from a distance.
