According to our HiFi speaker expert
With the Bowers & Wilkins 606, you can improve the sound of your TV or of your favorite music. These passive bookshelf speakers have tweeters which are disconnected from the front by a gel. Because of this, vibrations are neutralized and your music stays clear and undistorted. The speakers have built-in mounts, so you can also easily mount them on the wall. Want to get more out of the sound? Then use these speakers in a 5.1 sound set up as front or rear speakers.
Note: the floor stands in the picture aren't included.

Nice speakers with a detailed sound image, but they have a very lively treble. (even after 2 days and nights of "playing in").
Basses are nice and tight and sound good. In the top 50, rock music and stuff that relies on intensity and sharpness, they sound great. The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, SIA, Angèle, Drake, it sounds wonderfully detailed and with a tight clear bass underneath.
Billie Eilish or Dance Monkey (from Tones and I), for example, sound a little less. The subtlety of Eilish is somewhat lost in the clarity and Dance Monkey has already been pimped in the recording studio. It's just too much.
I have tested them on several amplifiers, 2 older class A/B and 2 class D of which 1 is more high-end.
I hope they would be an upgrade for my Monitor Audio Bronze 2 (400 euros), but they don't succeed, especially considering the extra cost of B&W. They are a little more detailed but at the cost of intimacy and tonality.
I also tested them against the KEF Q350. I certainly won't say that the KEF is better, it has its own problems. The B&W sounded better with pop music, rock, and even some piano pieces (!). The basses are also tighter (but slightly less deep).
But if I just sit quietly on the couch, without really analyzing music, I enjoy the KEFs more. Their tonality is more correct (but not without problems either) and especially the female voices feel very authentic.
The KEF is only slightly larger, but feels like a "clunky box" by comparison.
Compared to older (but 1000 euro+) floorstanders from B&W (6xx) that I also had, they are much better. If I had to choose between these two, I would go for the BW606. The floorstanders have slightly deeper basses, but the difference is small, the BW606 has better mids and highs. And takes up less space ;-)
The 606 is also not that difficult in terms of placement, fairly close to the wall, but still a tight bass.
But for the music I listen to, I prefer the KEFs. Sorry B&W.

The B&W 606 is a beautifully finished speaker. The sound is nicely balanced. With us, these speakers hang in a room of 20m2 where they come into their own and have sufficient output. The bass port is at the back, so you can't place this speaker against the wall.

These are simply the best speakers in their price range, in their size, in sound color, balance bass/mid/high... Although they are not 'disco speakers' (although they can also handle a large volume), they lend themselves to every music genre, from hard to soft, classical to rock, instrumental to vocals. Tested them simultaneously against Kef, wharfdale diamond 11.1, Klipsch RP 600 M, Wharfdale diamond 220, Monitor audio Bronze 2... and the B&W's 606 are head and shoulders above the rest... Even my wife always got the B&W's as best sounding out of the blind test. We played hires Flac's, Mp3's, Vinyl and radio. The others either had too little bass, sounded too sharp/sharp, too metallic etc... The B&W give a warm well-balanced sound, which never bores the ears. In addition: they play on a 32-year-old Philips amplifier (2 x 60 W), with which they match wonderfully.
