The perimeter wire is laid a few centimeters under grass with a milling machine. Setting is easy via the menu on the mower. With the app you can do some simple things (turn on/off, adjust schedule), but not the entire installation can be done via the app. The whole installation I did myself and in the end it took me no more than an hour (after wire was laid).
Comes with 150 perimeter meters of wire, which was just not enough in my case. This while it was a fairly simple route to lay cable. Could be a little more in the package.
It's been working for a week now and doing great. I have yet to experience longer term durability.
