Ideal for street photography, focuses quickly

40mm is a nice focal length for street photography

Well built

I already had experience with the wide-angle lens of 18mm and the short telephoto lens of 135mm from the Batis series from Zeiss. Beautifully sharp photos and very easy to operate with manual focus. Nicely balanced with the fantastic Sony A7 III. Not only technically, but also literally. Camera fits well in the hand with this lens and taking pictures with one hand, eg while cycling, is therefore very easy. The (temporary) cashback promotion from Zeiss convinced me. This made an expensive lens slightly less expensive. Now or never. No regrets.
