According to our internal memory expert
Let op: this RAM module only fits in iMac models from mid 2017 or newer with a DDR4 connector. This RAM isn't suitable for MacBook models or devices with a different system. The computer has to have a DDR4 connector.
You can upgrade the internal memory of your iMac from mid 2017 or newer with the Crucial Apple 16GB 2666MHz SODIMM (1x16GB) memory set. This 16GB RAM is divided into 1 memory bank of 16GB and runs at a speed of 2666MHz.

Last month I bought an iMac 27" because I still like to have a Windows version available (use Boot Camp).
The iMac comes standard with two slats DDR4-2666 SODIMM 260 pins of 4GB, so a total of 8GB. Upgrade at apple costs a lot and is easy and allowed by Apple with the iMac 27". I had purchased the corsair DDR4 2666 2x16GB (32GB) and wanted to add another 32 (total of 64GB), unfortunately these were not in stock at Coolblue. That's why I bought this Crucial (Mac compatible) DDR4-2666 SODIMM (2 pieces). These were delivered quickly the next day (on a Sunday).
ATTENTION: When placing these memory modules it is important that you take the placement into account with the "iMac 27" late 2019 and newer", this is not a problem with the previous version of the iMac 27".
First I had inserted the Corsairs in the place where the original 4GB slats were (slot 1&3) and the crucials on slot 2 and 4. Worked fine But upon checking it only worked on 2333 and not on 2666 !!!. Through research online I found that if you mix different memory capacities that you should put equal values in slot 1 and 2 and the others in slot 3 and 4 (example: in slot 1 and 2 the 4 GB slats and in slot 3 and 4 the 16 GB slat) otherwise switch the system back in speed, Despite the fact that they were 4 slats of 16 GB, there was still a difference, namely the CL values CL18 and CL19 (not noticeable in performance) but sufficient to switch the system to lower 2333MH (which is noticeable). The adjustment of corsair in place 1 & 2 and the Crucial to 3 and 4 yielded the desired result of 2666. SO: Keep the memories together two by two in slot 1&2 or 3&4
Very satisfied with purchase, delivery and performance. (had reservations about mixing brands but work well together)

The Crucial memory expansions work perfectly in my 2019 Apple iMac, and they are more than 5 times cheaper than the Apple memory expansions. So don't hesitate!
