A hassle to connect devices. 3 awnings and a fly screen: an hour. We had a multi-channel control for 2 blinds and that was a tricky one. The Dutch language of the app is appalling. Connecting the Somfy Sunis sun sensor was successful after 6 attempts. Apparently you have to start the search FIRST and then hold down the PROG key for exactly 3 seconds - longer than 3 seconds is wrong. A lot of pauses... That Sunis sensor is now connected, but I don't get to see a current light value, only a message that there is too little information for history. I now have to find out how I can operate the sun blinds with the light value of that Sunis - which was the whole reason for purchasing this TaHoma. It's not really intuitive. Furthermore, the TaHoma only works with Somfy and a very limited set of partners. Unfortunately, the other 433MHz controlled devices that we have in house (other brands than Somfy) cannot be controlled, the marketing information exaggerates a bit.

I wanted to automate my screens with a Somfy RTS motor and now you come to this device. I've been using Home Assistant together with Google Home for a while now, so it was an expected step to automate the screens as well. Unfortunately, this device is now in short supply, so when I received an email that it was in stock, I immediately ordered it, without thinking too much about the price, because it is a lot of money for what I do with it.
Once received, immediately unpacked, read the "manual" (or whatever goes before) and installed the app. If you read through the poor Dutch and do what the app says, the device is fairly easy to install and adding my five screens with RTS engine was also remarkably easy. A tip: keep the existing remote control(s) at hand when you start.
After that, I threw the app aside, linked my new Somfy account to Google Home ("Ey Google, close the living room screen") and started Home Assistant, but that turned out to be a bit more work. The official Somfy integration does not find the screens, so I finally installed the integration "Overkiz (by Somfy)" via HACS and it works like a charm.
Because I don't use the official app, I can't say anything about what it can do and whether it works, although it looks like there are quite a few functions. The device itself does what it's supposed to do and is easy to control via Google Home and Home Assistant (once it's installed). At least I haven't used the remote since I got this device.
p.s. No idea why the "quality" rating is there. If it starts to make noise, I think it's time for a call to customer service ;)

This is what you get when manufacturers do not use open standards, but have their own protocol that only works with their own equipment. They can jack up the price and hope that because you bought a very expensive hub that you will buy more of their stuff. Okay it finally works. After hours of googling, unfortunately I came to the conclusion that this is the only option if you want to provide somfy IO equipment with a time schedule or want to operate it smart. Somfy's older hubs are no longer sold and they are more limited when it comes to time schedules or homekit support.
The device is extremely expensive and masquerades as a new "universal" hub for all your smart home equipment. I have two Somfy awnings and I can't wait for another hub for my equipment. Let alone another “universal” hub. Hopefully matter will break through as THE smart home standard so that we can get rid of this expensive nonsense.
