The Philips L'OR Barista Sublime LM9012/60 Black is a compact coffee machine with which you can easily make 1 or 2 cups of coffee at the same time. Mixed Feelings: An Honest Look at the Philips Lor Bari

After problems with my old capsule coffee maker, which eventually broke down, we opted for the Philips Lor Barista. Due to the well-known brand name Philips, we had confidence that the product would be of good quality. This appears to be largely true: the build quality is solid, the device looks neat and does not look out of place in the kitchen. The tray is easy to remove and clean. The water reservoir is also fine, although I would like it if it could hold more water. The taste of the coffee is what you would expect from cups - pretty good.

However, the noise level is disappointing; the device makes a fairly loud buzzing noise, especially in the morning. This is somewhat disturbing, but survivable. A bigger problem is the mechanism. There is a lever for the coffee cups, something that is common with this type of machine. Since this is a Lor Barista and they also offer XL cups, there are additional moving parts to allow for larger cups. We only use the standard size, but for some reason the device sometimes thinks it has an XL cup. Then no coffee comes out, but only water, and the cup is not perforated properly. When you remove the cup, water falls into the drip tray. Sometimes you have to repeat the process up to three times before it works. This problem recurs periodically and causes a lot of hassle and frustration, especially in the morning.
