According to our car navigation expert
Go on the road well prepared with the TomTom GO Camper Max World. Set the dimensions and weight of your vehicle in advance and get a suitable route for your camper or caravan. This camper navigation has a 7-inch glossy screen that makes it easy to read your route. You can download maps of European countries and updates completely wirelessly via the built-in WiFi. You'll also receive up-to-date traffic information on freeways, provincial roads, and in city centers if you connect your GPS to your smartphone. This way, you avoid traffic jams and road closures. Do note that you may be charged extra for this. This TomTom is also suitable for normal cars.
Note: the battery of your navigation isn't made to last a long time. That's why you should always connect your charging cable before you start driving.

To get straight to the point, the TomTom is a great navigation device. It calculates and recalculates beautiful routes from A to B very quickly. The screen is also beautifully clear and sharp.
Unfortunately, that's where the positive comments stop, as a camper navigation for a heavy camper, the device falls short for us.
The device does not seem to take into account the set weight of 4 tons. In Germany, our maximum speed on the highway should be 100 km/h, the device simply displays the maximum speed for cars. Ditto in Denmark, our maximum speed should be 80km/h, reflects the normal maximum speed. So places where restrictions apply that I don't know from outside will also be wrong. Changes to the speed limit on your route are not indicated in advance, as is the case with Garmin.
Adding points of interest (POI) is not difficult in itself, but the lists we want to read don't seem to work. Lists that are appreciated by camper users such as NKC, Park4Night, LPG.eu and a few others. You have to upload a file via the MyDrive website that your device can then download (if connected to WiFi). It just doesn't work, no error message, just nothing. If we then want to manually add points on the device, it is noticeable that we cannot assign categories, so everything comes in 1 list. Our old Garmin also does this better. Then the own points of interest such as ANWB camper campsites and Adac campsites. If you have set up a route and you want to add an ANWB or Adac POI as a waypoint, you will not be able to do that because you will not see those lists from the search window in the route options. If you have to cancel the route, start a new route with a POI of the included campsites as destination.
Then there is the fuel prices item. Will be announced in a big way and you can use it for free for the first year, luckily. You should not pay for it because you can count on 1 hand the times that the correct price is displayed. And I'm not talking about a few cents difference, I've seen differences of up to half a euro per liter. Just turned off out of frustration.
TomTom also seems to suffer from incorrect traffic information, in fact more incorrect information about road works. Regularly received warnings in Germany and Denmark for road works that are not (yet) there (anymore). Including the delays that would accompany it. And me who thought TomTom was just as good at this.
Information about speed cameras is something TomTom is strong in. There is also always a report button at the bottom of your screen to report a speed camera. Not something we care about ourselves, but I couldn't find a single flaw on this part.
Something really stupid that we're missing is an altimeter. With our Garmin we can always keep the height in the picture, TomTom does not have this option.
What we also miss is the possibility to quickly save a point. Suppose we come across a place along the way that we want to visit again later. This spot is not yet in the system (not by TomTom and not added by us). To save this you must first stop the active route guidance, go to the main menu, click on “my places”, click on “add”, mark the correct spot on the map or enter the address and then save. And then restart the route you canceled
What is also very annoying and what bothers me the most is the daily crash of the system. If you have set a route and you want to change it, there is a very good chance that the device will freeze and after a short period decides to restart itself to solve this.
I have the feeling that TomTom has launched a product that is far from finished. A little opportunism from the marketing department because the motorhome market is booming like never before. We have a device for trucks, we stick a camper on it, put a few camping POIs on it and voila. We even keep the button to drive to work prominently in the main menu because that is what you will be doing with your motorhome. Too bad, the potential to make something good out of it is there, it just doesn't come out. I especially miss the advisory role.

The device is a faster and slightly larger version of the previous generation TomTom Go devices. The interface is slightly less streamlined and uniform. Whether that bothers you is a matter of taste. What is annoying for this new Go Camper version is that the motorhome pitches of NKC/Campercontact are missing and that it is also not possible to add them yourself. The places of ACSI/ANWB/ADAC that are on it are campsites, not motorhome pitches. This means that TomTom actually cannot live up to the (marketing) claim that the device for motorhomes.
