I tested the Eufy S340 Solo Cam. In this IP camera you will find the best features of Eufy's cameras. For example, a solar panel so you don't charge it or barely charge it, a wireless connection with or without Homebase 3 and a large viewing angle. And all without subscription costs.
As soon as I open the box I see the recognizable sleek Eufy camera. The solar panel is next to the camera. This is the best advantage of this camera package. You place the solar panel on top of the camera. Is your camera not hanging in the sun? There are also mounting materials included to hang it separately. This is a major advantage compared to other Eufy cameras where the solar panel is attached to the camera.
Connecting is easy. I followed the included manual. This is concise and clear. Initially, I connected the camera directly to WiFi. You do all this in the Eufy app. Because I already have a Homebase 3 at home, I then connected it to this base station. The advantage of this is that I can save more images, and that the camera uses extra smart AI functions. For example, it recognizes faces. This means I don't get an alarm message when my girlfriend or I come home.
After using the camera for a while, the solar energy seems to be enough to always provide the camera with enough power. If your camera often records in little sunlight (for example in winter), I expect that you will have to recharge it occasionally. Fortunately, the camera clicks off easily, so you can easily charge it indoors.
I set the camera to only turn on with motion detection. I later viewed images in the Eufy app. What struck me is that the images were very clear and sharp. When someone enters my garden, the camera follows the person to the back door. The camera records in 3K image quality. You can also set the quality lower. This way you can save more images. These qualities gave me a detailed picture of what was happening during motion alerts.
All in all, I am very satisfied with this Eufy SoloCam S340. You get the field of view of the S350, the connection options with the Homebase 3, or stand alone quality of the Solocams and the solar panel. In my opinion, the ideal premium IP camera if you want to monitor a large outdoor area with one camera.
