iPhone SE: A13 Bionic chip
The biggest difference between the 2 devices is the processor. The iPhone SE 2 has the A13 Bionic chip with 3GB RAM integrated in it. You can also find this processor in iPhone 11 (Pro). As such, you can quickly switch between apps and play demanding games on this device. The A13 bionic chip is also more economical with a longer battery life than that of the Apple iPhone 8.
iPhone 8: A11 Bionic chip
The A11 Bionic chip with 2 GBRAM in the Apple iPhone 8 is less efficient than the processor in the Apple iPhone SE. This means the processor requires a little more battery power than that of the iPhone SE model. When opening apps and browsing the internet, the iPhone 8 is also a bit slower than the iPhone SE.
iPhone SE: more camera functions
Although the iPhone SE and iPhone 8 have the same camera lenses, the iPhone SE has more camera options. This is thanks to the integrated A13 Bionic chip, which ensures you can use Smart HD for better photos in poor light conditions. You can also photograph your friends in portrait mode. This makes the camera more versatile than the camera on the iPhone 8.
iPhone 8: without extra functions
With the camera of the Apple iPhone 8, you can't take portrait photos and Smart HDR isn't available. Due to the A11 processor, you can't use extra camera functions such as these. The camera lens is the same, though. You have a 12-megapixel rear camera and you can record videos in 4K quality, for example.
iPhone SE: more variation in storage
The Apple iPhone SE is available in the colors black, white, and RED. Unlike the bezels of the iPhone 8, the bezels of all iPhone SE models are black. The black bezels around the screen ensure the image is calm to the eyes. You can choose 3 different storage capacities with the iPhone SE: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. This means Apple has added a 128GB version since the Apple iPhone 8, which is a great option if 64GB isn't enough for you and 256GB is way too much.
iPhone 8: black and white bezels
With the Apple iPhone 8, you can choose between 64GB or 256GB of storage capacity. You can't get 128GB with an iPhone 8. In addition, this device is available in other colors than the iPhone SE: Space Gray, gold, and silver. Only the Space Gray versions has black bezels. The other 2 colors have white bezels.
The Apple iPhone SE and the Apple iPhone 8 look identical at first glance. The Apple iPhone SE has a more powerful processor that makes the device faster and more economical. Thanks to the processor, the iPhone also has more camera options, such as Smart HDR and portrait mode. With the iPhone SE, you'll also benefit from the latest software for a long time. It's expected that you can install system updates on the iPhone SE until 2026. With the iPhone 8, support is expected to end after 2023.
