First impression: out of the box
I think the design of the earbuds looks stylish: simple, yet elegant. The size is comparable to that of other models. I prefer this round design to Apple's toothbrush design. The earbuds don't have an ear hook. Yet the buds clamp tightly into my ear when I put them in and turn a quarter turn. There's also a sturdy charging station, extra sizes of buds, and a charging cable in the box.
I enjoy the freedom of movement that I experience with fully wireless earbuds. I no longer fear that I'll get stuck behind the door handle with a cord. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, the connection to my phone is stable and the range is greater. The earbuds remember 8 audio devices. This allows me to switch flawlessly between all my Bluetooth devices. With the voice and touch control, I leave my iPhone in my pocket when I switch to the next song.
I'm really impressed by the sound. After testing different genres, I can say with certainty that as a critical listener, you're safe with this model. I find that the dynamics sound much better than those of the competition. I don't hear any noise in the background. Every sound is clearly audible and the bass sounds full. Even when I turn up the volume, the sound remains intact.
In terms of battery life, this earbud's score is average. With a full battery, the buds last 4 hours. When you add the operating hours from the charging case, you can use the buds for around 12 hours. This works great for me personally. I like to take short breaks while listening. The quick charge function has already helped me out several times in the morning. After 15 minutes of charging, I can use the buds for another hour. A complete charging cycle takes 1.5 hours.
Although the earbuds don't have ear hooks, they stay firmly put in my ears. The casing fits exactly in my ear canal. They're comfortable, even when I use them all day. I even think I can go for a run every now and then with these earbuds. I replace the silicone buds for a larger size. This ensures a better fit and helps me to hear the music better. If you have sensitive ears, this earbud is the thing for you.
Sennheiser Smart Control Application
It's time to explore the app, so I open the application. I set the music to stop playing when I remove 1 of the earbuds from my ear. That's useful when you're at the checkout in the supermarket. I also see the battery status of the left and right model. Operating the equalizer is easy. I simply accentuate the correct frequencies. Because I already like the sound, I set the settings back to how they were.
The touch controls respond quickly and are sensitive. They take some getting used to. That's because there are many control options. I like that there's depth in the controls, because I want to use my smartphone less. When I walk on the street and the traffic rushes around me, I decide to test the Transparent Hearing function. The earbuds now allow ambient sound to subtly pass through. That makes it easier to detect the traffic around me.
In terms of sound quality, the Momentum True Wireless leaves the competition behind. These are earbuds that I see myself using on a daily basis. If I would exercise more, I would have appreciated an attachment with an ear hook. But even without an ear hook, the model stays firmly put in my ears. Are you looking for a fully wireless earbud and do you value sound quality? Then the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless is the thing for you.
