Why will my installment amount be raised?

We've recalculated your monthly installment amount. Right now, your installment amount is too low. That might be because you've lowered the installment amount yourself or because you use more energy than we've estimated. We'll raise your monthly costs, so you have to pay as little as possible on your annual statement.

How's my installment amount calculated?

We'll know afterwards how much energy you're going to use in a year. That's why we calculate your installment amount based on the usage data of the network operator and the rates you agree to with us. Your monthly installment amount is the same as the costs of the entire year divided by 12 months.

How's my installment amount built up?

You pay fixed supply costs, network operator costs, government taxes, and VAT besides the (bare) supply rates for electricity and gas. We've included all these expenses in the recalculation of your installment amount.

Has the calculation of my installment amount taken the yield of my solar panels into account?

Have you had solar panels installed this year? It might be possible that the feed-in wasn't taken into account during the recalculation of your installment amount and your installment amount has been wrongfully raised. In that case, easily adjust your installment amount via My Coolblue Energy.

I have a fixed contract with fixed rates, why is my installment amount raised?

With a fixed contract, we won't change your rates. Your installment amount can still be too low. That might be because you've lowered your installment amount yourself or because you use more energy than we've estimated. To reduce the chance of paying extra on your annual statement, we've raised the installment amount. We look at your usage of the past year on your annual statement. You can find the definitive calculation of your energy costs on there. It might be possible that you have to pay extra or get money back.

Can I change my installment amount myself?

Yes, you can easily adjust your installment amount via My Coolblue Energy. You can lower your installment amount with a maximum of 20%. If you've received an email with an increase of your installment amount, we advice you not to decrease your installment amount. You can increase your installment amount with 150% maximum. This way, you decrease the chance that you have to pay extra on your annual statement.

Can I report my own usage?

We look at the usage data that we receive from your network operator for the recalculation of your installment amount. If you have a smart meter, we automatically receive the meter readings. Don't have a smart meter? You'll receive an email before the annual statement. In there, you can read how to report the meter readings to us.

I've been watching my energy consumption a lot lately, why has my installment amount still been raised?

It might be the case that you use less energy lately. Nice! We look at your consumption of the last year in the recalculation of the installment amount. That's why it's still possible that your new installment amount is higher. If we see that you've used less energy than we've estimated on your annual statement, you'll receive the difference back.

I've only been a customer for a short amount of time. How do you know already that I pay too little?

When we calculate your new installment amount, we look at your last consumption. Based on that, we saw that your consumption is higher than we expected. We take this into account in the calculation of your new installment amount.

What should I do if I can't pay my new installment amount?

You can contact our customer service. Together, we look at how we can help you. Unfortunately, we can't make a payment arrangement.
