Honest energy bill

When you take out an energy contract, you receive a rate sheet. This rate sheet contains all the rates you pay for your energy. These rates are also reflected on your energy bill. We're happy to help you understand what all these terms mean.

Energy costs

Variable delivery costs energy

Variable delivery costs energy

The price for fixed delivery costs differs per contract type: fixed, variable, or dynamic. These costs depend on the amount of consumed energy. For energy, this concerns the consumed energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Division fixed delivery costs solar panel owners

Fixed delivery costs energy

This is a fixed amount per month that isn't directly related to the price per kWh. These are operational and administration costs, for example. If you have solar panels, you pay more fixed delivery costs per month than without solar panels.

Government

The government sets the taxes. VAT (now 21%) is charged on all parts of the energy bill. We'll charge for these taxes, but have no control over the amount. We transfer the tax you pay to the Dutch Tax Administration one-to-one.

Energy taxes electricity and gas

Energy taxes electricity and gas

With taxes on electricity and gas, the government wants to encourage households to consume energy efficiently and consciously.

Reduction energy taxes

Reduction energy taxes

Because energy is a basic necessity, you don't pay taxes on part of your energy consumption. This amount is determined every year and is the same for every household.

Feed-in tariff

Feed-in tariff

You generate power with solar panels. Net-metering means that you can offset the energy you generate with solar panels to your total usage. This happens on the final settlement of your annual contract. Here, we'll check how much solar power you generated and what your consumption was in the past year. Did you generate more than you consumed? You'll receive a feed-in tariff.

Network operator costs

Network operator costs

Every region in the Netherlands has its own network operator that's responsible for the installation, maintenance, and management of the energy network. You pay the network operating costs to us monthly. We'll then hand this over to your network operator. You pay these costs for the maintenance and transport of the energy to your home.

Frequently asked questions

I have district heating. Can you still help me?

Yes, but only for your energy. We don't manage district heating.

What happens with my rates after my contract has ended?

From that moment on, the variable rates go into effect. These rates are valid until there are new rates. The rates change twice a year: 1 January and 1 July. Sometimes they change more often due to market movements. Of course, we'll let you know if this happens.

When do the regular and off-peak rates apply?

The regular rate applies on working days between 07:00 and 23:00. This isn't the case in Noord-Brabant and Limburg: they have a regular rate between 07:00 and 21:00 on weekdays. This means that more hours fall into the off-peak rate in Noord-Brabant and Limburg. The off-peak rates always apply everywhere during the entire weekend.

What's a single or double rate?

Do you have a smart meter? You'll pay a double rate. That means that you have 2 prices per kWh: regular and off-peak. If you don't have this, you always pay the single rate.
