I find the Fujifilm X-E5 an ideal camera for street and travel photography, especially when combined with the small 23mm lens. The camera blends seamlessly into my street photography. Due to its compact design, I do miss an ergonomic grip.
High image quality in a compact package
When I hold the camera, it immediately feels light and small. I don't feel like I'm holding a system camera. The camera fits easily in my bag. I find this convenient because I like to take my camera with me, for example, on city breaks. I'm testing the X-E5 with the 23mm f/2.8 lens. This lens is also very small, making me less conspicuous when taking street photos. One drawback is the lens's lack of zoom. If I want to adjust my frame, I have to move myself. However, this isn't possible in every location. For example, I don't photograph wildlife in nature. I find the photos I do take very sharp. The camera has a large 40-megapixel APS-C sensor, which allows me to take detailed photos. When I crop my photos in post-processing, I lose very little quality. Perfect for my social media or photo albums.
Built-in Image Stabilization
I effortlessly capture sharp images with the X-E5. This is thanks to the IBIS, which stands for In-Build Image Stabilization. This means the camera corrects for hand shake. This allows me to use slower shutter speeds, for example, which is helpful when I'm in a dark location. I also enjoy shooting in the evenings at dusk, choosing a longer shutter speed.
Film Simulations
I'm a fan of Fujifilm Film Simulations. The filters give my photos a retro look, and I can quickly switch between different styles and moods. I can choose from a total of 20 different filters. I easily adjust the filters using the dial on the camera. I often use the Classic Chrome filter. This makes my photos look like I'm taking them with an analog camera. The photos have a warm, film-like look with soft colors. I also like the new Reala Ace filter. It makes the colors look vibrant and clear. Thanks to these presets, I can post my photos directly to social media without editing.
