According to our compact camera expert
The Sony CyberShot DSC-HX60V is a compact camera with a large zoom range. Take panoramic pictures or use the 30x optical zoom to clearly see small details. Thanks to the 20.4-megapixel CMOS sensor and optical image stabilization, you'll see this quality reflected in your picture as well. Manually change the settings or let your camera automatically determine what works best. Expand your possibilities by mounting accessories, such as a flash or lamp, on the hot shoe. Take 360° panorama pictures by keeping the shutter button depressed and panning the camera around. The integrated GPS means you'll know where you photographed that vast landscape, even months later. Easily share your pictures and Full HD movies with the rest of the world via WiFi and NFC.

After its predecessor (Sony CyberShot DSC-HX10V) did not survive a trip over Indonesian sea waters, I went looking for the successor to this model. After some searching on Coolblue, I found it. Still good value for money as it turned out.
Before writing this review, I was able to test it extensively on a trip through Greece (this time without seawater!). Landscapes, backlit archaeological sites, evening scenes, portraits, yes even sunsets. This camera can handle it all. You can use a lot of things manually, but the automatic function does its job more than decently. Although he sometimes has some trouble focusing, especially with highly zoomed images such as a temple on a hill. Unfortunately, we also discovered this afterwards with the videos we made. He is constantly trying to establish a new focus, which becomes very annoying when filming from the car, for example (alternating focus on landscape then again on the grid along the road). Nevertheless, most of the videos are of a great quality. He has no problem with dark churches or evening scenes. In photos it looks like it was drawn in daylight (and certainly easy to set up with the extra dial at the top). Of course, do not expect the same sharpness as in daylight.
The very handy thing about this camera: you can take it anywhere. No dragging or installing of the device. Just out of the bag and hop, the picture is on it. It does not have all the functions of an SLR, but the possibilities are still ample.
Sensitive point with many cameras: the battery. Also here: great! GPS has always stood up and after a whole day of filming and taking pictures, he could safely go on for another day. As for this Wi-Fi/NFC: finally no more swapping with SD cards. In the evening I put the device next to my tablet and within 5 minutes the collection from last day was put on my tablet and then put it somewhere safe in a 'cloud'.
Maybe these comments:
In short: a good workhorse with many possibilities in pocket size. And this for an affordable price.

I think it's a very nice camera. It is compact, zooms in well and takes razor-sharp photos. The functions on it are well-arranged and it is easy to use. Definitely recommended for people like me, who don't want too much fuss, but do want beautiful photos.

I've had the Sony DCS HX for years and I'm very satisfied with it, I took it because I think it's a shame to take pictures with my smartphone. That's why I always have it in my bag. But it remains a compact camera
