After a lot of reviews I was hesitating between a Philips 9000 series or a Braun series 9. In the end I went for the Philips S9031 and I don't regret it yet.

I used to have a Philips that you could also use in the shower and that you could put gel fillings in, but after a few shaves there was no good result anymore, the fillings were an expensive affair and I suffered from red skin . Then I switched to a Braun series 5, which I was satisfied with, but I still suffered from irritation after every shave and some hairs were difficult to shave, especially the twisting hairs in the neck. In the end I mainly did not shave electrically, which gives a great result, but still requires some effort to do regularly.

So... back to electric. The new Braun series 9 appealed to me, but after using a new Braun series 3 that has fewer blades but does move more, I wasn't really convinced that I wouldn't have the same problems as my old device. Then I started looking at the 9000 series from Philips and it appealed to me for the following reasons:

easy to clean manually
related to that, no charging station needed, because those refills are a big cost anyway
little skin irritation
also for a slightly longer beard
price, it doesn't stay cheap, but because of the omission of the charging station it was still doable

After receiving it, I charged it and used it immediately. My beard was not shaved for 3 days and I was surprised how painless it went, epilation went. After getting used to finding the right circular motions, most of the hairs were shaved quickly and short. Obviously, not yet like with a razor, but still close. And I didn't suffer much from irritation either, and according to the manual the skin still needs to adapt and would get better ... could be better. Then rinse the device smoothly under the tap and ready.

And in the meantime, after using it a few times, I have to say that I am still very satisfied, because now the technique is also a bit better. The only real downside I've found so far is that the sideburns and falcon under the nose are hard to shave, but you have that with any electrical appliance. You can put the clippers on it, but it's easier to just take a razor.
