The Belkin 7 Port Quilted USB 2.0 Hub is a simple USB hub at a price that is slightly too high for the quality of the product.
I was looking for the cheapest possible USB hub to connect to my Raspberry Pi 3 (which will serve as a web server) and which had to meet 3 conditions:
What strikes me immediately is that the B-side of the USB connection cable has mini-USB while the standard nowadays is micro-USB. So if the connection cable gets lost, there is little chance these days that you have a replacement cable for it.
Then I noticed that the USB hub does not have a light to show that it is receiving power from the computer / laptop and/or power adapter. So you don't know if the USB hub is working correctly until you connect the hub to your computer / laptop and start using it.
Furthermore, the housing seemed to be somewhat crooked and cannot stand completely flat on my desk. Speaking of the housing: it is somewhat transparent and looks rather cheap.
In terms of functionality, the hub is a great thing. The USB connections work fine. 2 external USB hard drives connected simultaneously work fine. Transferring files between the 2 disks is done with approx. 19MB per second.
In my case, the USB hub will end up in a place that is reasonably out of sight and the build quality of the USB hub does not matter to me. For people who do place the USB hub in plain sight and/or will carry a lot in their laptop bag, the build quality and the mini-USB connection cable can be a deal breaker. Compared to another old 7-port USB hub I already had, the Belkin USB hub could have been a few euros cheaper compared to the build quality of the hub.

Bought because I was short of USB ports and data had to be sent. That's what this Belkin does.
