The Olympus PEN-F is a digital system camera with a 20-megapixel sensor. The included 17mm wide-angle lens with fixed focal point is suitable for architecture and landscape photography. Thanks to its large number of manual options, this camera is suitable for advanced photographers. The camera is based on the very first PEN, which was released in 1959. The camera is still easy to operate and produces high-quality results. There are also new additions, namely the electronic viewfinder and creative dial. With the creative dial button, you can switch between 4 preset preferences that you can set yourself. You can even include film situations and exposure profiles. This function will help you quickly create your own distinctive, iconic style. The PEN-F can record up to Full HD 1080p video. At the back of the camera, you'll find a 3-inch LCD touchscreen, allowing you to scroll through the user-friendly menus quickly.

We have been working on this beautiful camera with a beautiful 17 mm lens for a few weeks now. I was really looking forward to this camera and I am very satisfied with it. I myself have been photographing with the Olympus OM-D EM 1 for a long time, but I was looking forward to a small camera with almost the same specifications and even 4 megapixels more.
Once unpacked, I was amazed at how sturdy it actually is. I'm not used to this at all from such a small camera. The weight is just perfect, not too light and not too heavy. It just feels good in the hand, it feels like a very robust finished camera. If I compare it with my EM 1, this is not comparable. The EM 1 is clearly better in the hand, especially in combination with the battery grip. But this is a completely different camera. There are no connectors for a battery grip at the bottom of the PEN-F, so I don't expect one to come either.
The appearance is also beautiful, it resembles the first PEN-F model dating from 1963. Some improvements have been made that improve the camera. There is in my opinion 1 unnecessary wheel on the front on the right side. You can use this to apply filters to the photo. I've used this a few times but didn't like it. I always edit on a computer. The wheel with which you can adjust the brightness is quite heavy, I could have used this a bit lighter.
The photo quality is really great for this micro four third (MFT) camera. My EM1 has a 16 megapixel sensor and the Pen-F a 20 megapixel sensor. I must confess that the difference is hardly noticeable. It cannot be compared with a full-frame sensor, because if you zoom in a lot, you will still see everything sharply, and you have that slightly less here. But it is so sharp that what you zoom in on your computer is usable.
When I compare the ISO value with my EM1, I hardly see any difference. The grain is slightly finer but it is hardly visible. An ISO value of 3200 is the maximum you can get for a good photo. If you really can't do anything else, a value of 6400 is also possible, but preferably not.
The separate flash that comes with it is really great. You can move the head horizontally and vertically so that you can also bounce off a ceiling. Without my own Olympus fl600R flash, I was still able to take super nice portrait photos with the supplied flashes. I was really surprised at that little super device.
I have the camera with a 17mm 1.8 lens. This is really a beautiful lens for shooting indoors and outdoors. The 17 mm lens is equivalent to a 35 mm lens on a normal SLR camera. This system camera has a crop factor of 2. So basically this means that you have to multiply the 17 mm lens by 2 (17X2) is 34, this is rounded to 35. This lens is ideal for street photography. You can shoot beautiful images with this that remain beautifully sharp.
In short A compact super camera that you can easily take with you everywhere. It can be compared to an EM1 but not at all. It is not water and dust proof (which hobby photographer is going to shoot in the rain?) but it does have 4 megapixels more. This is the perfect camera for an amateur or professional who wants to take their camera with them wherever they go to get some great shots quickly.

I am a hobbyist and have always been able to take good pictures with any camera. The Pen-F has given me a very different perspective on photography today. This camera suits me because number 1 it is not difficult internally to deal with but externally it takes some getting used to and 2 I have never made such beautiful photos and videos. The videos you make on the pen-f look like TV movies and documentaries. That's why I love the VCR. If you are creative enough, you will make super beautiful videos that look like TV programs. For all with the filters that are on the camera you can make really great videos, I had made a video with a preset filter and that was really cool to see. It gave the film a look like no other. The plus points are really the preset filters that change the dynamics and the video recorder

I was looking for a smaller camera next to my Canon SLRs. In my search I ended up with the Olympus Pen F with the 17mm lens.
Well built, handy size and easy to work with. The camera surprises!
If you are already used to photographing with an SLR, it will be obvious with this camera. The buttons are well placed, the menu structure is clear.
Shooting with the camera is very inviting. It starts with the electronic viewfinder, the image is clear, even if the lighting conditions are less. Working with the touchscreen is also more than good, at most the fingerprints that this causes are difficult.
The photos are remarkably colorfast, colors are displayed as you see them with the naked eye.
The manual is included on CD, which I have only looked at briefly. That will change in the near future because the camera has countless possibilities that I have yet to discover.
I am very satisfied with the camera, shooting with it feels like a party.
